March 22, 2007Gun Control Bills AdvancingFolks, I am buried at work and don't have time for any real posts today and tomorrow but I want to bring a couple articles to your attention: In Illinois, a flurry of Democrat sponsored gun control bills are advancing. The Daily Herald reports on two of them, one that limits gun purchases to one a month and another that requires ALL private transfers (except to family members) require a state police background check. From the same paper, there's another one citing some un-named survey claiming that the majority of voters want to ban .50 caliber rifles and other "assault weapons." You know the typical lies like shooting down planes are given. In Iowa, a bill to confiscate guns from people served with restraining orders. Normally I'd support such a thing except that a lot of people file for restraining orders based on phony claims. That is, a lot of people and their lawyers file for them as ploys in divorce and child custody battles. See you soon and thanks for stopping by. Please be patient about emails, I'll get to them, just not maybe today. . . Comments
This will go on for a long time now. The liberals have only two things to do: Pick on Bush and dream up new gun controls. What else is new? Jack. Posted by: Jack Lorenz at March 22, 2007 08:21 AMIL also passed out of committee a ban on so-called "assault weapons." This ban requires grandfathering with registration of the banned firearms AND registration of magazines over 10 rounds, AND registration of "assault weapon attachments" (i.e., VFG's and pistol grips). http://ilga.gov/legislation/billstatus.asp?DocNum=0873&GAID=9&GA=95&DocTypeID=HB&LegID=26943&SessionID=51 Posted by: K-Romulus at March 22, 2007 09:06 AMWhile they've been driven back almost everywhere else the forces of evil seem to have been gathering strength in a few of their strongholds. Chicagoland (since they're driving the state it might as well be renamed) seems to be approaching a tipping point. It will be 'interesting' (in the Chinese curse sense) seeing which way it goes. Will the anti-gun folks succeed in driving the gunnies out of the state or will they face Unintended Consequences? Posted by: KCSteve at March 22, 2007 02:05 PMJeff, you wrote: "... How can you support the removal of an unalienable Constitutionally protected right with anything short of a conviction via due process of a felony crime????? --MuzzleBlast Posted by: MuzzleBlast at March 23, 2007 11:40 AMThese proposals sound just like the existing laws in the California Republic that make it difficult in the extreme to buy a nice gun. We couldn't stop them. Better success to you, I hope. Posted by: The Little Coach at March 23, 2007 01:46 PM(A)OK a 35pound gun is going to be easy to keep out of sight to pull off a crime,I don't see the point of excluding it from a legal resident of these United States. One more time we see the view that "because it CAN be used in an UNLAWFUL MANNER it is to be banned from ALL possible users. the comment input form disappears. Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
