March 14, 2007No Slippery Slope? While some in Maryland debate an "assault weapons" ban, others are going after a ban on heavy artillery:
But criminals and terrorists will always find a way to get hold of Daisys. (Hat tip to reader Daniel M.) Comments
The insanity never stops. Ban criminals, not guns. Posted by: Ray at March 14, 2007 09:10 AMHow flippin' absurd is that! Next it'll be squirtguns, cap guns, dart guns, rubber band guns and staple guns, blow guns, nail guns, spray guns and heat guns, just because they might look like scary things. When the little green saucer men come they'll be arrested for having ray guns. It's not the gun someone's holding, it's the person that has to be dealt with. Doug Posted by: doug in colorado at March 14, 2007 10:15 AMI say cut to the chase and just ban criminals! After all, they say all of these laws are only aimed at criminals so, since the darn criminals insist on finding ways around whatever bans they enact (when they don't simply ignore them) they only way to cover all the bases is to ban the criminals. Now I realize that they seem to have some trouble telling the criminals from the rest of the population, but they can just use their normal methods. I tell you, once they ban all people from their town the crime rate will plummet! Posted by: KCSteve at March 14, 2007 12:34 PMThe absolute lunacy of this comment: "Clark argued that BB guns are used more frequently in robberies. She said people can't tell the difference in that type of situation." reminds me of when Canadian schools banned (or tried to ban) the use of the word "gun" Posted by: Jay at March 14, 2007 01:00 PMObviously the woman didn't stop until her Energizer bunny batteries ran down and she has stayed in that locked bathroom until she lost her mind. Posted by: straightarrow at March 14, 2007 02:46 PMTwas ever thus: I once saw a box of lawn darts at a garage sale in Maryland. Should have bought them when I had the chance.... And my son's Red Rider BB gun, capable of firing hundreds, yes HUNDREDS of times without reloading, was purchased in Maryland over a decade ago - but now safely resides in an honored corner of his bedroom in TEXAS. He has never (yet)put his own nor anyone else's eye out with it. The exact replica SIG 229 CO2 BB pistol, which really could shoot your eye out, I got once I moved here. Good times, good times.... Posted by: Austin Mike at March 14, 2007 02:48 PMAnd may I suggest that anyone pointing anything that is or that looks like a real gun at the victims during a robbery deserve to be shot, without hesitation or remorse? I may? Thanks! Posted by: Austin Mike at March 14, 2007 02:50 PMStunning example of complete ignorance without a trace of shame. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
