February 14, 2007Demodouchbags Re-Introduce AWBFigures a piece of crap like Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (Democrat, NY, where else?) would go against party wishes and try to bring up gun control in the first couple months. Les Jones has the scoop on H.R. 1022. Let me add that right now it's only in committee. If this bill is voted on, and the newly elected Democrats who are supposedly gun rights supporting wind-up caving to pressure from the likes of Schumer, Feinstein, et al, the Democrats will effectively have handed the 2008 election to the Republicans. Four million NRA and GOA members are more than enough to turn several swing states back to the red column. Pelosi and company would be very STUPID to not kill this bill before it reaches the floor. Somehow, I think they will be STUPID. Comments
I hope everyone gets their shopping done ahead of time. I also wish that 2007 not be the last SHOT show featuring anything not considered PC. Posted by: gudis at February 14, 2007 10:43 PMWE HAVEN'T LOST YET!! Write AND fax AND email AND phone Find your congresscritters easily: Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box!! Molon Labe! The battle isn't over yet! They've never been anything but stupid, I don't see them changing now. Posted by: straightarrow at February 14, 2007 11:28 PMContacting McCarthy won't do a thing. Her husband and child were killed on a commutter train shooting in New York (killer got on the train and strolled down the aisle just blasting people away with no resistance). Its the reason she ran for congress. However, Brady has as much weight on the hill these days as NAMBLA. This thing won't see the light of day (heck, she couldn't even find a single other democrat to be an initial co-sponsor of it). Must be pretty lonely to be the house's sole bigot these days. I almost feel bad for her. Posted by: countertop at February 15, 2007 06:24 AMThe republicans who stayed home last election should be forced to watch the debate on this POS on cspan with their eyes clamped open ala Malcom McDowels character in A Clockwork Orange. Wanting the Democrats to win to teach the Republican leadership a lession is like wanting your son to get cancer so he will stop that nasty tobacco habit. Posted by: Phil-Z at February 15, 2007 09:15 AMOld Version: New Version: Expectations of stuff like this is why I got such a nice Valentine's Day present from my ever-indulgent wife: Ok, active links seem to be turned off (blasted spammers!) but if you go to www.svandyke.com/ebr1/ebr1.htm you can see the nice AR-15 she got me. 20" 1/9 heavy barrel, match trigger. Just iron sights for now but since I'll be shooting at a (reasonably) nearby indoor range they should do fine while I ponder / shop optics. Posted by: KCSteve at February 15, 2007 01:19 PMWhat I will never understand is how the Democrats can simultaneously argue that George Bush is on the verge of imposing a fascist theocratic totalitarian government on the USA, and, at the same time, argue that all citizens' weapons be confiscated and turned over to the 'police' or 'military.' Who is plotting the totalitartian state here???? Posted by: Geoff at February 15, 2007 10:39 PMSeems Jim Zumbo from Outdoor life agrees with this bill. http://outdoorlife.blogs.com/zumbo/2007/02/assault_rifles_.html Posted by: Rorschach at February 19, 2007 12:23 AMthe comment input form disappears. Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
