Battlestar Galactica

In preparation for being snowed-in today, yesterday I went to Borders and -- based on your recommendations in the past -- purchased the first season of the new Battlestar Galactica. I watched the first of it, the 4-hour mini-series episode, last night. I like!

Interesting that the space shots of rotating spaceships and the planet scenes of cities (before being destroyed) all look like they were produced using Bryce, my favorite new software. It's what I've been using to produce many of the images on my sci-fi blog novel. Of course, my efforts are still wildly crude and simpleton so far, but it gives me hope; seeing what others have accomplished.

By the way, I don't think much of President Roslin but I've only watched that one episode and I hope she will grow on me and not turn into some lame, liberal bitch like Devon Adler (actress Deborah Farentino) in Earth 2. Anyway, I plan to watch a bunch more episodes today as the blizzard howls outside.

Roslin has some interesting growth as a character throughout the series.

She can't really be characterized as conservative or liberal, because she acts in both directions at times.

I think you'll be pleased...

For the record, I didn't think they could pull off Starbuck as a woman. I was wrong, thankfully. :)

yeah I had my doubts about both the pres & starbuck. They have plumbed a lot of character depth with both. But no spoilers for you!

Watch closely in the flashback scenes when Roslyn is talking to her doctor on Caprica. In the sky, you can briefly see the Firefly.

The miniseries was probably the weakest part of the show. It gets even better.

No, the stupid boxing match episode in Season 3 was the worst, but they made up for it afterwards :)

What's the Firefly???

Posted by: Wai at February 14, 2007 09:24 PM

Not having seen the BSG show in question...

I'd guess that they're talking about the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity, from the short-lived TV show Firefly and the follow-up movie Serenity.

Jeff: Your weapon-clutching, libertarian soul is going to rejoice and be glad when you rent the Firefly series. It's the bomb.

Karrde, you are correct. I believe the same team did the CGI for BSG and Firefly.

I don't have cable but purchase the show when it comes out. I've loves both available seasons and have gotten my wife into the show. Now I'm anxiously awaiting season 3.0 out on video.

Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
