Why Gun Control Can't Work

Whenever I'm looking for stuff to comment on around here, a typical search term for me at Google is simply "guns" (there are others, of course). And sure as the sun will rise, a bunch of news stories about guns being stolen comes up as other bloggers will attest to. As an example:

A burglary at a Metairie sporting goods store early Monday morning netted criminals a colossal cache of weapons, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, said that Puglia's Sporting Goods at ___ was reported burglarized at about 6 a.m. and 121 assorted guns stolen. Fortunato said that 115 assorted handguns, four shotguns and two assault rifles were reported missing by the store's owners.

The Brady Bunch types can blather all they want about gun show "loopholes" and "straw purchases" and so on but most mutants steal their weapons. That's just a fact. Then, they sell or trade for drugs with each other.

I've run into more than a few people who favor gun prohibition specifically because guns in the home can be stolen.

2 assault rifles?!?!?

we're DOOMED now, don't worry about the 115 handguns, it's the assault weapons that are really dangerous.

and just out of curiosity, aren't their storage laws for businesses so this kind of thing can't happen?

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
