Cherry Tree Votes "No" to Criminal Control

See my post from November for background. Anyway, last night the town council voted down a proposed ordinance requesting homeowners to own a firearm:

CHERRY TREE, Pa. - Leaders of this small town on Wednesday rejected a proposed ordinance that would have recommended that all households keep weapons and ammunition to prevent crime.

Only one person on the seven-member City Council wanted to pursue the proposal.

"This would ... make a statement to the rest of the community and criminals in this area," said Councilman Henry Statkowski. "If you want to break into a home in Cherry Tree, you might not like the consequences."

Oh well...

How in hell can you have an ordinance that "recommends" something? I wish that the IRS would "recommend" that I pay taxes. The Cherry Tree residents can do what we all do. Choose to protect our own butts or be victims. Jack.

Here's the thing Jack, if enough cities, towns, villages, etc. pass and/or recommend such, we may end up being considered "politically correct".

Just think how nice it would be for the politically correct to also be the morally correct and logically correct stance with the full support of those that don't think but like to be in on the PC party crap.

Wouldn't that just be the berries?

Right you are,Straightarrow. Jack.

"Gun-control advocates have said such measures risk putting guns into the hands of criminals and increase gun violence."

uhhhh?

The mere existence of guns risks criminals GETTING their hands on guns. Nobody PUTS them there.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
