Rapper Scorned For Advocating CCW

Needless to say, that's not PC to some folks. From Gigwise.com:

Outkast star Andre 3000 has landed in hot water after telling a magazine that he’d like to buy a gun for his 9-year-old son.

The rapper – real name Andre Benjamin – said that his son Steven should carry a gun in future due to the heat of everyday life.

He’s quoted as saying: “I would want my son to carry a gun when he gets older. It’s just something you have got to have if you want to be safe.”

But anti-gun campaigners have reacted angrily to the comments, saying that a man in his position should not support carrying guns.

A spokesperson for Mothers Against Guns said: “Andre 3000 is idolised by large numbers of young children throughout the world.

“He is glorifying gun culture which has taken over the world and taken our children away from us.

“To say he is going to encourage his son to carry one around when he is older is despicable.”

First of all, he's not saying he wants his son -- at nine-years-old -- to be carrying, just that when his son gets older, he should.

What could possibly be "despicable" about a father caring about the survival of his son? Why should worrying about the welfare of children be scorned? Don't bother answering; those were rhetorical questions I preach to the choir.

Frankly, Andre 3000 sounds like a good daddy!

I've acquired a healthy distrust of any political group with "Mothers" or "Moms" in their name. When a bunch of mommies band together, it's not surprising that they feel entitled to mommy the whole world.

Andre 3000 might just have to ramp up to Andre 4000 and kick some of those mothers in the butt.

Those mothers are trying to keep a brother DOWN!

There are exceptions to the "distrust of any polictical group with 'Mothers' in their name". Check out Mothers Arms.

I wonder how Big Boi feels about CCW...

Random comments:

I rather like the Mothers of Invention, myself.

Mommies, Nannies, same old same old...

Of course, these gun grabbers are simply trying to conflate the "gang culture" with the *genuine* "gun culture", which inculcates safety, responsibility and respect in its members.

Just another way to demonize guns and gun owners in the eyes of the great unwashed.

Nimrod45,

I'm more partial to the Father of Invention: Laziness.

Well, that's a damn good thing, perhaps it'll help to counteract this crap

I am hopeful that the rebellious nature of youth will bite them in the ass on that one however.

And I might have to buy some Outkast to make it possible for him to afford a gun for his son.

Much better than Eminem (a.k.a. Marshall Mathers) and his attitude towards guns.

That rapper was booked for a concealed-carry-violation a couple of years after he hit the big time.

So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
