August 30, 2006Expect Sporadic Outages Next 24 HoursHosting Matters is moving my trio of blogs from an old, sickly server to a new, fresh one this evening. They've warned me and thus I'm letting you know that for the next 12 hours or so, you might have trouble connecting here as well as my other blogs (except Colony, which is on a seperate hosting plan and server). This also means that name-domain lookup servers for folks who come here from searches will also be delayed or not get here for 24 hours. Sorry for the interuption. It's out of my control. They also warn that before the transfer, there will be sporadic outages. Of course, if there IS one you won't be reading this. Other bloggers on other services might want to let folks know. Sorry, that was my EGO talking... Update 8/31 10:11 AM: Most of the files have been restored now. Email still isn't working but I'll have to worry about that this evening. To their credit, I will say that Hosting Matters was giving me back and forth support for the past 3 hours almost as if we were chatting. They re-copied folders, etc. Also put in back-up folders but then that caused me to go over my disk limit so I had to delete those... *Sigh* Hopefully everything will be back to normal later today. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well.
