April 19, 2006Michelle Malkin Under AttackOne of the best conservative thinkers around, Michelle Malkin is being harrassed by the usual juvenile antics of the leftist liberal blog community. They've been posting personal information (address, phone, etc) about her. Rather than engaging her with debate on the issues, they prefer to -- or more likely are only capable of -- throwing childish tantrums and trying to intimidate her and her family. Naturally it won't work (infantile tactics never do) and she certainly doesn't need me or anyone else to defend her but maybe a show of support for her around the rational blogging community would be nice. Isn't it interesting that the peace & love & equality for all crowd on the left are always the first ones to curse and hurl racial abuse? They're for "free speech" only when coming from one of their own sycophantic partisans. God forbid a differing opinion should creep into the public arena. I sometimes fantasize that one of them, bent on harrassing me, would show up at my front door just so I could personally see what a dozen hollowpoints does to a body... Comments
You seriously think that Michelle Malkin is a good conservative thinker? She's just as bad as the intolerant hippies on the left. Posted by: Leo at April 20, 2006 12:17 AMI agree with Leo, she put this on herself by posting their personal info. Of course its expected for college students to retaliate. Posted by: John at April 20, 2006 01:44 AMThe protesters released their phone numbers themselves and email addresses on their own Press Release made public "For Immediate Release." Ms. Malkin linked and excerpted said release. It is typical for persons issuing press releases to include contact information. What is not common is for those who put their contact information on widely disseminated releases to blame others for said release. Posted by: BruinEric at April 20, 2006 02:50 AMPayback's a bitch eh' fuckwad? Her refusal to remove these kids contact information was not from conviction, but from revenue. Every journalist in the world knows that contact information on a press release is for journalists to call for more information or interviews, not to be published (or even pointed out) in the publication itself. If she were any kind of ethical person she would have pulled the information when asked. Hmmm. I'm not a journalist so I wouldn't know the 'rules' associated with phone numbers on a press release. "She put this on herself..." So her own actions are fault and it is OK when others retaliate against her because of those actions? Just trying to understand what I read here... None of thoes whose contact info was published bothered to ask for their removal. I'd say it's the psychos from SAW who are at fault (you know, those "loving", "tolerant", "all-embracing" rock-throwing, tire-slashing idiots.) Posted by: Amy at April 20, 2006 07:59 AMSounds like the commenter "themole" just proved your point...he/she starts immediately with a personal insult and goes downhill from there. Posted by: BobG at April 20, 2006 08:41 AM"Michelle Malkin is being harrassed by the usual juvenile antics of the leftist liberal blog community. They've been posting personal information (address, phone, etc) about her. Rather than engaging her with debate on the issues, they prefer to—or more likely are only capable of—throwing childish tantrums and trying to intimidate her and her family." This is an absolutely ridiculous paragraph, because that is exactly what Malkin did. She disagreed with their stance, so she published their contact information on her website—obviously with the intent that her readers should use that information to intimidate and harrass them. Anyone familiar with journalism knows that the contact info sent to the press is not meant for the public and is not supposed to be published. Michelle knows this. They asked her to take it down, she refused and reposted it. THEN, after that, people responded by figuring what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and retaliated, publishing Malkin's personal info. It's much more akin to libertarians trying to seize Justice Souter's property via eminent domain as a response to the Kelo verdict. People like Malkin and Souter can dish it out but can't take it. Not that that is justified either, but to paint Malkin as some innocent victim of harrassment when she is in fact the one who initiated the entire thing is absolutely absurd. Posted by: Guav at April 20, 2006 10:40 AM"Every journalist in the world knows that contact information on a press release is for journalists to call" What a joke. It was a public release with phone numbers for the public to call for more info. They assumed, of course, that it would be only good lefty people wanting to join in. And unlike what some scumbags tried to do to Malkin, she only published the release itself with only the information on the release. Unlike the scumbags, she did not publish home phones, home address and fucking maps to their homes. Posted by: Ken Summers at April 20, 2006 10:49 AM"Anyone familiar with journalism knows that the contact info sent to the press is not meant for the public and is not supposed to be published. Michelle knows this." -- Guav Gee, and yet here's a press release on Yahoo News and -- dang if those aren't the contact phone numbers. Oh look, from the Daily Progress student paper (UVa) comes a press release about protesting students and golly-gee, they include the contact information with phone number... Here's another one at Yahoo from the Brady Bunch and -- yes, I see a telephone number there... Say, here's advice on writing a press release that specifically states to make sure newspapers, blogs, etc print your contact information: Tips for Maximizing Your PR Efforts in Search Engines: The fact that the above was written for business is irrelevent. Press releases almost always are published with the contact information and if others quote or link to the press release, that's just too bad if the info gets spread around. A press release is just that -- you are releasing information to be spread by media. Michelle did not issue a press release, the Santa Cruz thugs did. Posted by: Jeff Soyer at April 20, 2006 12:55 PMJeff, Your last paragraph is just wrong. Remember, two the chest, one to the head. No need to waste the other nine rounds. Shot placement matters, doncha' know. Posted by: KCSteve at April 20, 2006 01:33 PMMichelle is a big cry baby. She put out the phone numbers of students on her blog, refuses to remove them - then cries when the same is done to her. Sounds like she takes lessons from Commandwhiner in Chief. Michelle is ugly too! Posted by: lfrank at April 20, 2006 01:40 PMGuav (is that in "Che") and Mole--are these folks surfing the net looking to comment on anything perceived as a slight to their cause? The venom with which they speak obviously reveals their agenda here. The fact is, libs think they can just shout down those with whom they disagree (kind of anti-free speech for people who purport to be the defenders of that right, don't ya think?). They are all for free speech unless it is something they don't like. Can't these guys come up with some coherent argument to counter Malkin's POV. If not, then STFU. Posted by: Ron at April 20, 2006 01:42 PMI am in charge of press releases for a local service organization. We expect that the contact numbers we include will often be publicized. Posted by: Marianne at April 20, 2006 04:28 PMWe put boomershoot news releases on the web complete with phone numbers. I've been getting search engine hits on my blog looking for Malkins address and phone number. The appropriate response will be implemented tonight. Posted by: Joe Huffman at April 20, 2006 05:47 PMIt doesn't take an iota of moral intuition to understand that these kids did not intend for their contact information to be disseminated to an audience of extreme right-wingers. Only a sick minded individual would conclude that they intended to get feedback from extremists, when it is obvious that they simply intended to release information within a somewhat safe and supportive community. Likewise, Michelle has released her personal contact information to her friends and family. It is a shame that anybody would release and publicize her contact information online, to the delight of would-be abusers of such information. In general, it is a despicably low move to publicize the phone numbers and contact information of political opponents on an incendiary medium. It is a sign of spinelessness to do so, whether you are Michael Moore or Michelle Malkin. Posted by: pedro at April 20, 2006 06:16 PMI will tap dance on the windpipe of anyone that tries to harm Michelle Malkin or her family. All she has to do is say the word, and an ARMY of folks like me will come runnin to her neighborhood. We will protect her the same way the Bikers protect the military families. GO 'HEAD, MAKE MY DAY. Posted by: Richard Davis at April 20, 2006 08:41 PMThank Ron, but no, I'm not a liberal troll, I'm a daily reader of this blog, so why don't you STFU. I'm with Pedro on this one. It's a shit move by both parties, period. Posted by: Guav at April 20, 2006 10:43 PMMy response is here. Posted by: Joe Huffman at April 21, 2006 02:40 AMShe linked to their published press release. They could have changed it, but looked up her information and published it. Sorry, their bad. Posted by: htom at April 21, 2006 09:49 AM"I will tap dance on the windpipe of anyone that tries to harm Michelle Malkin or her family. All she has to do is say the word, and an ARMY of folks like me will come runnin to her neighborhood." HEY RICHAR, I'VE GOT AN IDEA FOR YOU, YOU RAVING DINKWAD! WHY DON'T YOU REALLY SHOW US WHAT A TOUGH GUY YOU ARE AND GO ENLIST FOR IRAQ INSTEAD OF IMAGINARY FOES COMING AFTER THIS CRY BABY B#TCH WHO CAN DISH IT OUT BUT CAN'T TAKE IT! ALL YOU RIGHT WING DINGLEBERRIES ARE SUCH FRIGGING HYPOCRITES IT'S REALLY NOT EVEN FUNNY ANYMORE! IDIOT! Posted by: DARTH CHENEY at April 22, 2006 08:26 PMMalkin is just like the rest of the Right-Wing cowards, she's afraid. She now knows that the Repiglikan agenda is a failed one. Failure in Iraq, economic failure, a President that is surely the biggest disgrace in American history. I haven't even mentioned the issue on any of my sites. Pathetic little conservanoid trash just aren't news...unless they're facing felony charges for robbery, murder, or sex crimes that is.
