You seriously think that Michelle Malkin is a good conservative thinker? She's just as bad as the intolerant hippies on the left.

I agree with Leo, she put this on herself by posting their personal info. Of course its expected for college students to retaliate.

The protesters released their phone numbers themselves and email addresses on their own Press Release made public "For Immediate Release." Ms. Malkin linked and excerpted said release.

It is typical for persons issuing press releases to include contact information. What is not common is for those who put their contact information on widely disseminated releases to blame others for said release.

Her refusal to remove these kids contact information was not from conviction, but from revenue. Every journalist in the world knows that contact information on a press release is for journalists to call for more information or interviews, not to be published (or even pointed out) in the publication itself. If she were any kind of ethical person she would have pulled the information when asked.
If she were something resembling a human being with "feelings", she would not have republished the information once the students themselves removed it. Michelle is a vicious, vindictive, venomous egoist with no discernible ethics nor even a shred of human decency. If she wants to be The Minority Woman Who Believes Minorities and Women Suck, that's her right. But she should at least have the integrity to acknowledge that she has done wrong and to stop compounding the wrong. And she should not give us that disingenuous crap about how she doesn't condone death threats and nobody should misuse her posting and reposting of personal information.

Hmmm. I'm not a journalist so I wouldn't know the 'rules' associated with phone numbers on a press release.

This is an absolutely ridiculous paragraph, because that is exactly what Malkin did. She disagreed with their stance, so she published their contact information on her website—obviously with the intent that her readers should use that information to intimidate and harrass them. Anyone familiar with journalism knows that the contact info sent to the press is not meant for the public and is not supposed to be published. Michelle knows this.

They asked her to take it down, she refused and reposted it. THEN, after that, people responded by figuring what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and retaliated, publishing Malkin's personal info. It's much more akin to libertarians trying to seize Justice Souter's property via eminent domain as a response to the Kelo verdict. People like Malkin and Souter can dish it out but can't take it.

Not that that is justified either, but to paint Malkin as some innocent victim of harrassment when she is in fact the one who initiated the entire thing is absolutely absurd.

And unlike what some scumbags tried to do to Malkin, she only published the release itself with only the information on the release.

Oh look, from the Daily Progress student paper (UVa) comes a press release about protesting students and golly-gee, they include the contact information with phone number...

Say, here's advice on writing a press release that specifically states to make sure newspapers, blogs, etc print your contact information:

Include a section targeted specifically towards bloggers with links to related blogs written by your employees as well as instant message and phone number contact info for key people.

The fact that the above was written for business is irrelevent. Press releases almost always are published with the contact information and if others quote or link to the press release, that's just too bad if the info gets spread around. A press release is just that -- you are releasing information to be spread by media.

Michelle did not issue a press release, the Santa Cruz thugs did.

Michelle is a big cry baby. She put out the phone numbers of students on her blog, refuses to remove them - then cries when the same is done to her. Sounds like she takes lessons from Commandwhiner in Chief. Michelle is ugly too!

Guav (is that in "Che") and Mole--are these folks surfing the net looking to comment on anything perceived as a slight to their cause? The venom with which they speak obviously reveals their agenda here.

The fact is, libs think they can just shout down those with whom they disagree (kind of anti-free speech for people who purport to be the defenders of that right, don't ya think?). They are all for free speech unless it is something they don't like. Can't these guys come up with some coherent argument to counter Malkin's POV. If not, then STFU.

I am in charge of press releases for a local service organization. We expect that the contact numbers we include will often be publicized.

We put boomershoot news releases on the web complete with phone numbers.

I've been getting search engine hits on my blog looking for Malkins address and phone number. The appropriate response will be implemented tonight.

It doesn't take an iota of moral intuition to understand that these kids did not intend for their contact information to be disseminated to an audience of extreme right-wingers. Only a sick minded individual would conclude that they intended to get feedback from extremists, when it is obvious that they simply intended to release information within a somewhat safe and supportive community.

Likewise, Michelle has released her personal contact information to her friends and family. It is a shame that anybody would release and publicize her contact information online, to the delight of would-be abusers of such information.

In general, it is a despicably low move to publicize the phone numbers and contact information of political opponents on an incendiary medium. It is a sign of spinelessness to do so, whether you are Michael Moore or Michelle Malkin.
