Oh, Those Guns!

The lying shits of New Orleans have finally admitted they have guns confiscated from law abiding citizens during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. From CNS News:

A Second Amendment group calls it a "stunning reversal." After denying it for months, the City of New Orleans on Wednesday admitted that it does have a stockpile of firearms seized from private citizens in the days following Hurricane Katrina.

The city even took lawyers to the place where some 1,000 firearms are being stored.

"This is a very significant event," said attorney Dan Holliday, who represents National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment Foundation in an on-going lawsuit seeking to stop the city from seizing privately-owned firearms.

The city's disclosure came as attorneys for both sides prepared for a court hearing on a motion to hold the city in contempt. (On March 1, The Second Amendment Foundation and the National Rifle Association filed a motion to have New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Police Superintendent Warren Riley held in contempt of court for refusing to comply with an injunction to stop illegal gun confiscations and return all seized firearms to their rightful owners.)

"We're almost in disbelief," said Second Amendment Foundation Founder Alan Gottlieb on Wednesday. "For months, the city has maintained it did not have any guns in its possession that had been taken from people following the hurricane. Now our attorneys have seen the proof that New Orleans was less than honest with the court."

Under an agreement with the court, the hearing on the contempt motion has been delayed for two weeks, and during that time, the city reportedly will set up a process to return the guns to their lawful owners.

An emergency is the very time when we need our rights the most. Half the NOLA police force was MIA, looters and thugs were on a rampage, and what does the city do? They make sure that the law abiding residents can't protect their own property. And Nagin still has a chance to be re-elected mayor. Incredible.

I wrote a letter to my state representative (NC) asking him what current or yet-to-be-introduced law would prohibit a state or local official from issuing such an order like the one Nagin got away with. Assuming I get an answer it will definitely be blog fodder.

Those videos of troops going into houses with rifles raised got my hackles up.

Remember New Orleans, because history has a nasty habit of repeating itself.

Every one of us needs to keep at least one "clean" gun and a supply of ammo at a secure location just in case. Jack

New Orleans officials probably figured that under the old Louisiana-Napoleonic Code of Gardes de Trouveurs or "Finders-Keepers" (with an elastic interpretation of "Finders") that they could make some money off them or keep the ones they liked best...

Did Nagin make his "we didn't take any guns" statements under oath? If so he's on the hook for a lot more than contempt of court...

It's NOLA after all. If the idjits there re-elect Nagin who cares? They get the shafting they deserve.

The thing I'm upset over is that I'll be hit hard in the wallet to pay for all the "rebuilding" that's going to go on and on and on............

The half of the NOLA PD that wasn't MIA were probably the looters and thugs! New Orleans is notorious for its police corruption. If you've never visted there, it is (was) a nice place to see for a few days and then get the frick up out of.

What people don't get is that the 2nd Amendment is the Doomsday clause of the Constitution. The last resort of an oppressed people against a tyrannical government is the offensive use of firearms. That's why the 2nd Amendment was put in there.

God help us if we ever turn into Canada. (not that Canada sucks...I just don't want my rights to invaded upon)

I know the polls are exagratted, but I wonder how many poll points Bush would gain if, not even Bush, and not even the US Attorney General Gonzalez, but the local US attorney announced arrest warrents for denial of civil rights, specifically, the second amendament, of Nagin, the Police chief of NO and others.
Think it will happen? It should've already.
Meaning, they deserve the low polls, exggrated yes, anyway.

Gun? Nope, no guns here, we don't have any...

... oh you mean these guns...

Nagin was campaigning in Houston for votes from
"former" N.O. residents. It appears the La. has passed a law allowing people that no longer live there to vote. Seems failure to do so would weaken the liberal grip on La. politics.

Funny that, the productive people are still there rebuilding, the drones are still living at others' expense waiting for the rebuild to be finished for them. Any doubt why Nagin keeps going out of state to campaign for "city" office?

Oh, yeah, he is living in Dallas.
