Judge Gives Wendy's Couple The Finger

From 10 News TV (CA):

The sentence is nine years in prison for the woman who claimed she found a severed finger in a bowl of Wendy's chili. And her husband is getting more than 12 years behind bars.

Anna Ayala, 40, and her husband, Jaime Plascencia, 44, were sentenced Wednesday in San Jose for their roles in a plot to extort money from the fast-food chain.

Ayala had claimed she bit into the digit. Her husband is the one who actually obtained the finger from a co-worker who lost it in a workplace accident.

They pleaded guilty in September to charges of conspiracy to file a false insurance claim and attempted grand theft.

There's more here.

Good. This prank cost Wendy's several million dollars in lost revenue and caused many layoffs.

Of course, now another couple is making claims...

Wow. I'm glad they're being punished but I just can't help compare this case to the 60 days the dirtbag got for molesting a little girl over the course of something like 7 years.

Beat me to it, Tom. I was going to suggest that these clowns would have been better off had they repeatedly raped a child.

This clearly shows that the US courts value corporations more highly than human life.

Regarding the latest couple making claims, i mean wow, lasting damage from biting into a PLASTIC fork, what passes as plastic in Bradenton...?

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
