January 06, 2006Now They'll Have To Ban HandsFrom the North Platte Telegraph (UK):
We've just got to get a grip on finger control. Posted by Jeff Soyer at January 6, 2006 04:50 AM Comments
Oh, they won't go for the whole hand. At least not at first. Just the "assault fingers." I expect a "Thumb safety" campaign to break out. Proponents of "Thumb Safety" will advocate registering thumbs, voluntary thumb-turn-in programs and, in the District of Columbia and possible Chicago, out-and-out bans of thumbs. I also expect a sudden wealth of scholarly articles and books about how (very) early man did not have thumbs, and crime was lower. (Indeed, records reveal no crime rate whatsoever prior to the introduction of the thumb.) Those pointing out that thumbs are not, technically, fingers will be labeled "thumb-nuts" and written off as extremists. Posted by: Greg at January 6, 2006 08:20 AMNext they will want a limit on high-cap 5 finger hands. We will be limited to one five finger hand or two four finger hands. Not to mention redefining thumbs as WMD's: Posted by: tomWright at January 6, 2006 11:50 AM I have to hand it you, I can see you're up in arms about this issue. Nothing limp-wristed about your response. We're going to have to knuckle down, we can't afford to be disjointed or the hand control advocates will palm off yet another restrictive law. Time to give them the finger. "The can have my fingers when they're cold and dead!" Posted by: Steve Skubinna at January 6, 2006 08:25 PMthe comment input form disappears. Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
