December 29, 2005Action on SF Gun Ban
Since in a round-about way I work for the NRA I won't comment. But you can... Posted by Jeff Soyer at December 29, 2005 07:06 AM Comments
Sure, I'll comment: The NRA should grow a set and not negotiate with these idiots at all. They should have gone straight to court and had this ridiculous ban ended as it's unconstitutional. Instead, they want to play friendly with these morons. This is why I much prefer to contribute to GOAL than the NRA.... Posted by: Weebs at December 29, 2005 09:51 AMComment on the NRA? This should have been approached steam-roller style and utterly destroyed. Filthy fucking bastards. Forgive me, I haven't had my coffee yet. Posted by: tkdkerry at December 29, 2005 10:01 AMThis is NORMAL legal procedure. The TRO process is designed to force delayed enforcement of the questioned action. It's an expensive process in terms of time, effort, and fees. And if the TRO is granted, it can be embarassing for the defendent because it indicates that they have a weak case (bad politics in a political case). NRA got delayed enforcement. THEY WON THIS ROUND. And they did it inexpensively. Nothing valid to complain about, this time. Posted by: JOlson at December 29, 2005 10:26 AMYou work for the NRA? Does Cam pay you??? Cool!! And I agree with JOLson. NRA wins this time, while I doubt that they would have managed to recieve a TRO in court.
Speaking from the left coast, and being a lawyer in SF for many years, this was a deft move by the NRA, and I am surprised that the SF city Attn agreed. The judges here are elected, and they pander to their constituency. That is, the 58% of morons who voted for the ban. Which way do you think a SF judge is gonna rule on this? The Court of Appeal or Cal SCT will have to decide this one if the gun folks are to win. Posted by: Ron at December 30, 2005 01:07 PMLiving down the peninsula from where Ron has worked I agree also, and want to note something from the CRPA (Calif. Rifle Pistol Assn.) in regards to the above re: Blame Game. the comment input form disappears. Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
