Vermont Bloggers Meet-Up

Yesterday afternoon was a lovely day and in a pleasant cafe (with wireless) in Montpelier a bunch of Vermont's finest bloggers got together to solve the problems of the universe. Well, okay, maybe just to meet and have some fun and discuss common areas of interest and blogging in general. Everyone was in good spirits and (as I've noticed bloggers tend to be) very witty and bright. I'm sure that, given the time, we could have solved the world's problems.

Here's a photo I swiped from blogger Morgan W. Brown who has many more you can view -- all captioned -- here:

There were probably about 20 bloggers there, a very impressive turnout for a hastily arranged "convention" in a small state where all of us are rather far-flung. I tip my hat to Cathy Resmer at 802 Online for organizing it and finding a perfect location.

For more commentary and photos also checkout Todd from Dohiyi Mir who has a slideshow here.

Rick from Terrapin Gardens has a photoset too.

Michael Martine has commentary and photos here including one of myself looking positively drunk. Actually I was only drinking POP Soda (a Vermont made, all natural soda that even uses real sugar!).

Anyway, it was a super pleasure meeting everyone and I hope we can do it more often.

It did get me thinking while I was heading home that I really do live in the middle of nowhere. I like my town and the area but sometimes I wish I lived closer to the pulse of the state, such as in cities like Montpelier or Rutland or Burlington. It would be easier to get involved in politics but more importantly, I could meet a lot more folks and actually enjoy some nightlife.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
