October 28, 2005Anti-Gun Letter From StudentFrom the Daily Utah Chronicle, the University of Utah newspaper, comes this logic:
Well actually, the people do by voting. If it's a president's first term, they can vote for someone else next election, just as they can vote out their senators and congressmen. Free elections in this country are the ultimate power to veto. What are they teaching kids these days at school? Posted by Jeff Soyer at October 28, 2005 07:05 AM Comments
Jeff, been trying to email you for like two days. Your email box is full. Drop me a line. Posted by: SayUncle at October 28, 2005 09:02 AMI got a kick out of this line: Shows a scary lack of understanding on the part of the student. I find it constantly disturbing when people think that government officials should (and do) have more power the The People. Top down power is bad. I just wish more people looked at our country (rightly) as having a bottom up power structure. At once scary and sad. Posted by: Tom at October 28, 2005 09:37 AMActually, Benson, you have to remember that half the people living here in SLC are from southern California; most of the people from around here have different opinions. And it is definitely not a utopia, LOL. Posted by: Robert Garrard at October 28, 2005 06:58 PM"What are they teaching kids these days at school?" Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
