Sad News From the Den

Heather Bare, also known as Momma Bear, has passed away. I somehow had expected it after her husband died earlier this year; theirs was a marriage made on Earth but destined for heaven. Here's a photo of her I took at a blog bash in the Summer of 2004:

It seems so strange that I was only mentioning her this past Sunday as someone I considered my unofficial "BlogMother".

Almost from the start of Alphecca she was a commenter and had linked to me many times. As many other bloggers on her email list know, she sent around the most wonderful, humerous emails. She always emailed me with wise advice. What many don't know is that she helped many bloggers, both financially and editorially. She was the oldest but coolest blogger and computer geek I knew.

She was always smiling and laughing about the foibles of mankind. But she was an expert in living. Listening to her and Pappa Bear tell their stories about their half-century plus together was wonderful. These were folks who had been through it all, tough times and good times and always kept their sense of humor.

Did I mention that Momma Bear loved her guns? She let me take some photos of her and her .50 caliber Desert Eagle with two conditions: First, she wanted copies (which I sent her) that she could send to select friends. Secondly, I was not to post any of the pictures until she had died. Then, she wanted folks to know she was a "gun totin' Momma"! I think, even then, she knew her days were numbered. I suspected so, too. So with her blessings (I hope) I present one more of her with her "carry piece":

God bless her, she was a tough and funny broad who led and had a good life and she's gone to join her husband to continue the grand journey. I hope that when I arrive on that path I can catch-up!

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
