"I Was Just Borrowing the Guns..."

I guess cops hear some of the lamest excuses ever spoken and from the Bennington Banner, here's another one:

BENNINGTON -- A local man pleaded innocent in District Court on Monday to stealing two guns. He told the court he was simply borrowing the guns for hunting season.

Mathew J. Julius, 21, was cited for a felony charge of grand larceny greater than $5,000. He told Judge David Suntag he took the guns that he thought belonged to his twin brother and intended to return them in November when hunting season ended.

According to an affidavit, Julius' mother, Dawn, reported the stolen guns to police on Sept. 8. She said the guns belonged to her future son-in-law and were being stored in her house. She also told police that this was the second time Julius had stolen from his parents.

She said the first time he stole $2,400 from a safe, which she did not report because she did not want her son to be in trouble, according to court documents.

[...]

When Bennington Police Officer David J. Faden interviewed Julius at his home, according to an affidavit, Julius admitted to taking the guns and knowing that at least one belonged to his future brother-in-law. Julius told Faden he believed he owned at least one half of one of the guns, but wasn't sure.

Later that day during an interview at the station, Julius told police he took the guns because he was mad at his mother for arguing with his girlfriend.

Three different stories for his actions, all rather pathetic.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
