August 23, 2005I'm Legal in NHYou know, I read about some of the horror-show crap that some states make their residents go through just to get a carry permit and I again thank God that Vermont doesn't have any of that nonsense. Neither does NH, even for non-residents. After filing a simple form, a letter from my town's constable, and $20 dollars, within a few weeks I got my non resident pistol/revolver CCW license from them yesterday:
Good for four years, it makes it a whole lot easier to travel to NH ranges or just swing across the river to do some shopping. Posted by Jeff Soyer at August 23, 2005 11:11 AM Comments
If you want to travel get a Utah license. They require $60 up front and you have to take a 4 hour course that tends to also cost $60, but after that it is just $10 to renew each year. Why Utah though? Simple, any state that has reciprocity with ANY state also has reciprocity with Utah, which means that with a Utah license you can go almost everywhere... well, with the exception of the southwest (california, oregon, and nevada don't respect anyone, most of the northeast (you live there so you know what gun fearing wusies they are, but you can go to VT, NH, and DE), and some of the midwest (again, IL, WI, and IA are just sick places that try to disarm their citizens). But seriously, check it out. You con't even have to go to Utah for the class, they have instructors in quite a few states. http://www.packing.org/state/utah/ Posted by: Windaria at August 23, 2005 11:53 AMI actually do almost no travel and when I do, it's only to NH which is a few hundred feet away and has all the shopping malls, so it was the only one I considered getting. I'll probably apply to Maine eventually since that's where I like to vacation. Posted by: Jeff Soyer at August 23, 2005 02:43 PMI'm impressed with any govt ID that has NO PHOTO on it. Holy cows! Posted by: robert at August 23, 2005 03:20 PMNH is the only non-resident pistol permit I have. It was extremely easy to get - you only need a letter if you are from VT where they do not have permits, otherwise they just ask for a photocopy of your home state permit. Fortunately for me it is recognized in the various states where my relatives live, unlike my CT resident permit, which has reciprocity with no one and is only recognized in a few of the more gun-friendly states. Posted by: Gerd Groenewold at August 23, 2005 03:34 PMYeah... NH permits are real easy to get, just got mine recently while I was on leave... phoned ahead and had the town secretary actually fill it out for me... I just had to pick it up in person. Posted by: Fox at August 23, 2005 06:33 PMMaine is kind of odd... I love how they give the snippet from their constitution... especially since Maine most certainly questions that right, even thought their constitution clearly says that it shall never be questioned. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
