Ancient Star Disses US

As if anyone is really listening to the solidified fossils known as "The Stones." But They decided to offer their own comments about American politics in a song on their latest album. Sorry, I just yawned... Now, no doubt worried over admonitions from their marketing department, they are claiming they weren't actually bashing Bush. From the Washington Post, a bunch of crap:

The Rolling Stones' upcoming album contains a song seemingly critical of President Bush, but Mick Jagger denies it's directed at him, according to the syndicated TV show "Extra."

"It is not really aimed at anyone," Jagger said on the entertainment-news show's Wednesday edition. "It's not aimed, personally aimed, at President Bush. It wouldn't be called 'Sweet Neo Con' if it was."

The song is from the new album, "A Bigger Bang," set for release Sept. 6. There is no mention of Bush or Iraq. But it does refer to military contractor Halliburton, which was formerly run by Vice President Cheney and has been awarded key Iraq contracts, and the rising price of gasoline.

"How come you're so wrong? My sweet neo-con, where's the money gone, in the Pentagon," goes one refrain.

The song also includes the line: "It's liberty for all, democracy's our style, unless you are against us, then it's prison without trial."

"It is certainly very critical of certain policies of the administration, but so what! Lots of people are critical," Jagger told "Extra."

A representative for the Stones said the group had no further comment about the song.

Okay. The aging spinsters of rock , specifically Mick, shot off his aged mouth about Bush and someone told him to "shut the hell up". Wise advice but a few days too late. I haven't been interested in paleolithic musicians since I was about twelve-years-old so I haven't really followed the crustaceous Stones. If Mick Jagger wants to shoot off his big-lipped mouth about our country and leader, well fine and good. That's what the First Amendment is all about. I'm under no obligation to listen to him. And now, when his income is at stake, suddenly he puts his balls in his pocket and retracts or denies that he is being an jerk. Hey Mick? You're still a jerk. If you don't like the US then don't come over here trying to make money with concerts.

Hey jeff,

I guess you don't like older people since you use the words "aging', "ancient", "aged" in such a disparaging way. Is it your opinion "old folks" should just keep their mouths shut and not proffer an opinion in public? You don't seem to mind the inane blathering of that gray-haired old coot Don Rumsfeld. Insulting people because they've passed the age of 60, and are all wrinkley and icky looking, is really quite immature. Jagger may well be only a shadow of his youthful self, but buddy, he easily outclasses you, at any age.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
