May 22, 2005Gun Teacher Forgets 1st Rule
Dummy. Posted by Jeff Soyer at May 22, 2005 07:16 AM Comments
That is right up there with a DEA agent lecturing about guns in a classroom when his gun discharges and he shoots himself in the foot. This was just after he said something like, "I am the only one in this room qualified to handle this weapon." lol Film as 11: http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/gunsafety.asp At least he kept it pointed in a safe direction... That's why there are 3 rules... you have to dork up all three for something really bad to happen. He broke rule 2 and 3 (and zero) so gun went bang, but because it was in a safe direction, nobody got hurt. Hence all three rules. (Point in a safe direction, unloaded until you're ready to use it, finger off the trigger. then there's rule zero--treat all guns as if they are loaded.) Posted by: Nate at May 23, 2005 11:02 AMI don't think he kept the gun pointed in a safe direction. The article doesn't say whether there were people working at the construction site. Just because you don't know what you might hit if the gun goes off doesn't mean you won't hit anything. That's like thinking when you fire a gun into the air, there's no risk the bullet could come down from the sky and hit someone. I'm glad no one got hurt, but it would have been just as bad for a construcion worker to be shot accidentally as for one of the students. Know your target and what's behind it. Posted by: Janine at May 23, 2005 02:56 PMAs someone who has spent a lot of time on construction sites, I can tell you the trailer should not be considered a "safe" direction...by any stretch of the imagination. Construction workers are people too, at least sometimes. Posted by: Doug in Colorado at May 24, 2005 12:59 PMthe comment input form disappears. Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
