Around Town...

Naturally, after declaring that I would take the weekend off, I've been blogging...

So have others:

I'm not doing a "Weekly Report" this week but there are still stories out there. American RealPolitik reports on the biased news story about the Beaverton, OR man arrested for owning an "anti-aircraft" gun... I saw the story but really haven't had the chance to follow it. Gregory is.

James at Hell in A Handbasket brought his camera to a Bush Rally in Columbus, Ohio and offers his comments and snaps. NOBODY bothers coming to my neck of the woods in Vermont.

Barbara K. Kaye at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville is conducting a survey of blog readers. If you'd like to participate, here is the survey.

JawsBlog reports on a Boston Herald story about how Red Sox hero Curt Schilling is now pitching for Bush. Because of his injury he couldn't attend a Bush Rally in Manchester, NH but he's made a phone message being sent out... Good for him!

Gumbo Pie has a post about local politics in Louisiana regarding the sportsmen's vote and it makes for interesting reading.

Entropy Manor has a post about how the roots of terrorism start in places we never expect. Like Indiana.

DC Thornton again rightfully laments how the Democrats simply take the Black vote for granted. In my humble opinion, Bush -- while not patronizing them -- has done a lot for Blacks, much more than Democrats ever have. He's appointed several to high, visible positions -- without the "fanfare" that Clinton always used, and higher in position than Clinton ever did -- and he also tried to make school vouchers available so folks could put their children in better schools than the crumbling ones in their own neighborhoods. And may I just point out that home-ownership for Blacks is the highest it has ever been? Thank you, I knew you'd let me...

I've mentioned here several times my problem with the "spam-bots" that I spend plenty of time deleting each morning. The Acidman is having the same problem.

Lastly, I'm worried... The polls are moving towards Kerry. This depresses me mightily. I just know that between all the phony registrations the Democrats are racking up, plus their teams of lawyers, they will win. It will happen. Alas. Please folks, make sure you vote.

Okay, I'm tired; I worked today (yes, Sunday) and I'm worn-out. For lunch I had my usual (poor-boy) Ramen Noodle "cup-a-crap" and now I'm drinking cheap white wine. God, I hate being broke all the time.

Anyway, I promise not to post anymore until tomorrow night. Really. I'll try.

As they say, the only poll that matters is the one conducted on Tuesday. I guess I'm still confident that more people will appreciate the President's "stay the course" attitude than Kerry's "everything to everyone."

I made an entry into MT-Blacklist that kills all entries using a dash (-) in them and I have not had to hand kill anything in 5 days.

You might consider using a system similar to the one that Jed & Owen are using over at Boots & Sabers. When you post a comment, you have to type in a word that appears with the post. Check it out, it's kind of hard for me to explain.

Note: Comments close down on posts after seven days and then
the comment input form disappears.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.

By Golly, you're reading an archived post. Click Here to head to the main page and read current stuff...
