October 21, 2004"No Guns Allowed" Store RobbedIn Ohio, which now has concealed-carry, any business that wants to can post a sign stating that customers are not allowed to bring concealed firearms into their store. Too bad criminals don't obey those signs! From Ohioans For Concealed Carry:
Never mind that if one of the employees had been armed... Discouraging law-abiding citizens from entering your place of business is bad enough (one of whom might have stopped the robbery, or in a different situation, protected or saved a life). But to put up a sign stating that guns aren't allowed is like an open invitation for any armed thug to enter at will and commit robbery. And that's the similarity with concealed-carry laws in general. A state or city or district that forbids it, or makes it extremely difficult to do so automatically "enables" all sorts of criminals who then rightly assume that their intended victims will be unarmed and unable to defend themselves. It's an invitation to commit crime. Not that in areas that DO allow CCWs are all citizens, or even a large percentage of them actually carrying. But you see, that is the mystery ("are they or aren't they carrying") that helps keep the mutants at bay. And that is the reason that in all states that DO allow CCWs, violent or armed crime is down. Think about that! "No Guns Allowed" = "Come on in and rob us!" Comments
Karma. Don't leave home without it. Posted by: Jay G at October 21, 2004 10:49 PMThis is too perfect. In attempting to be safe, by keeping all those people with concealed weapons out - er law-abiding people that is - you make yourself less safe, since the criminals aren't following your wishes. I hope Ohioians For CC get more businesses to rethink these signs. Posted by: Zendo Deb at October 22, 2004 12:51 AMthe comment input form disappears. Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that. By Golly, you're reading an archived post.
