Around Town...

I've been quiet for a couple days (not that I'm ever very "posty" anyway) but I'd like to point out a few items or blogs for your reading pleasure...

A new blog called Gumbo Pie from New Orleans (and they're about to be awash in a storm, yet again) who describes himself as "A gay man in his late 40s, aging as we all do, and who just can't believe it's really happening." Sounds kinda' like me. I'll be 50 in exactly two weeks. Yikes. Anyway, he's still waiting for a reason to vote for Kerry. Jean, the proprietor, sounds a lot like many of the libertarian (small "L") gays I've come to know in the blogosphere. And he wisely has me on his blogroll and on to mine HE goes!

Another pleasant edition to my blogroll is Medic Mom who I think you'll like a lot.

The blog Creative Writing and Open Discussion makes his case for the war in Iraq and while it's a good case, I don't agree completely. But then, this war has twisted everyone... He also has the results Howard's win in Australia and the bias in the New York Times report on it.

My buddy at CounterTop Chronicles is hot on the rumors that Pink Floyd might reunite for a tour. Quick story: A million years ago I went to see the play "Jesus Christ, Superstar" and afterwards snuck into Carnegie Hall (I was familiar with the joint) and I heard the deep bass notes echoing through the back corridors and stairs. I ran all the way up to the top floor and went in through an exit and found myself at a Pink Floyd concert. There were no seats but also no ushers so I just plopped myself down on the aisle stairs at the top of the hall and grooved. It was the second best concert I had ever been to. (The best was when my cousin and I went to see Eric Clapton and Derek and the Dominoes at the Fillmore East during their first tour. To this day, Layla is my favorite song.)

Nathan Moore reports that Imus predicts a Bush win and that Kerry needs to pay more attention to media stars.

Another buddy of mine, James R. Rummel at Hell in a Handbasket is a gamer like me. Right now though, his mind is on zombies and such. Hmmm...

I found you because Technorati said you linked to my brother's new blog (gumbopie) and I was pleasantly surprised to find another person who understands there's nothing liberal about gun control. So, hi. All for now.

Note: Comments close down on posts after seven days and then
the comment input form disappears.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
