Jeff's Emergency Tip-Jar

Thanks again, everyone! As Jackie Gleason used to say, "Baby, you're the greatest!"

A couple people have said they had trouble figuring out what the "tip jar" was... I've just "re-done" it:

A few hours ago I was dejected. Now I'm humbled. Thank you!

Update 9/1: You folks are fantastic. Thank you all very much for your kindness. The blogosphere is a wonderful place for many reasons and now I've learned that one of them is your generosity. I am awed and grateful.

Well, Jeff, I know what a bullet looks like, but I've searched all over this page and cannot locate any link to anything except "trackback" and "Thank you Main". Would love to help but you are making it hard to do so.

Incoming!

Hi Pat,

You do have to be on the "Main" page of Alphecca. It doesn't show up on Archive pages. Thank you very much.

Thanks from another conservative gay gun owner - sorry I didn't see the request before you got demoralized or you would have had at least one donation. I think others may have been skipping your site thinking you were off on vacation and also missed the request.
Regards,
Tim

Sent a small donation, from a gun-loving straight middle-aged woman to one of her favorite sites.

I could not access your Tip Jar! I read of your plight (thanks to Glenn Reynolds) and came here. However, under the phrase "The Tip-Jar:" was a charcoal gray band of nothingness.

Hmmm, what is going on, I wondered. He wants money but his site ain't working. Naw, that can't be right. I then closed the Favorites window on the left side of IE (5.17 for Mac OS 9). Aha! The window expands and there's the tip jar button. What is weird is that despite not seeing all of your page, IE did not display a horizontal scroll bar. I don't know if that's a coding error on your site or an IE error.

Anyway, a small tip shall follow. Best wishes and keep up the good posting!

The tip jar jinx continues. Or is that the jar jar jinx?

Click tip jar button. PayPal site s l o w l y loads. Enter payment information etc. I had mistyped my password. Wait very long time for chance to correct error. Reenter password. Wait a very l o n g time to see a new page that displays a security failure error. Try again. Same outcomes. Switch to Netscape 6.2. Go to PayPal. Enter payment, ID, and password. Wait around 30 seconds. Netscape locks up and I have to Force Quit. Gnash teeth. Come back here to gripe.

Tip deferred 'til another day. Sorry.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
