Democrats Disenfranchise Voters

The Democrats, many of whom still refuse to admit that President Bush won the last election because they seem to have forgotten that presidents are elected by the electoral college, are busy trying to steal the next one. Remember -- it's the Democrats, not the Republicans, that in Florida felt that minorities and the elderly were too stupid to operate a punch-card ballot. And it was the Democrats who claimed that "a million" black voters were disenfranchised.

Yet (as I've written about before) the Democratic lawyers have been busy trying to keep independent candidate Ralph Nader off of the ballots in as many states as they can. From the (NH) Union Leader:

RALPH NADER appears well on his way to a spot on New Hampshire’s ballots on Nov. 2, and this has Democrats steaming. They are so upset that they have called the lawyers.

Ironically, at the same time the state Democratic Party is suing the state GOP for having used an illegal phone-jamming operation to violate citizens’ constitutional right of equal access to the ballot two years ago, the party also is suing to keep Ralph Nader off the ballot...

...Unofficially, they hope their lawsuit removes enough signatures from Nader’s petition to keep him off the ballot.

Nader voters might simply sit at home and do their recycling on election day if Nader is not on the ballot. But Democrats hope they will turn out to vote for John Kerry. So they are suing, not just in New Hampshire, but also in Pennsylvania. In Oregon, there is some evidence that Democrats deliberately sabotaged Nader’s effort to get on the ballot there.

Notice that in their press releases and public statements the Democrats have not attempted to persuade people not to sign Nader’s petition. They are not offering arguments in opposition to Nader’s candidacy. Instead of debating the merits or demerits of a Nader campaign, they are trying to prevent his candidacy from even happening.

Are they not disenfranchising those voters who would prefer to cast their ballot for Nader? Are they not denying these folks the chance to vote for the candidate of their choice? Are they so desperate, because they know Kerry has nothing to offer the electorate, that they will try (once again) to litigate their way into the White House?

Here's a slogan:

The Left: Sucking the democracy out of the Democratic Party.

Ya know, if I was a Naderite I think I'd vote for Bush just out of spite.

Wrapping themselves in the flag and pretending to be the great advocates of democracy, a peek under that chipped veneer of the Republican party quickly shows their true colors. Not only have they consistently made attempt after attempt to disenfranchise select groups of voters (usually black, as in Florida and Detroit, or Native Americans, as in South Dakota), but they also have blocked all attempts to bring bills to the floor to guarantee voting integrity with paper trails. Add to that their barely transparent support of clearly antidemocratic coups (Venezuela and Haiti spring readily to mind) and their obvious intention to subvert true democracy in Iraq (knowing that the Shiites would triumph). Bottom line: The Republicans are an entirely sham prodemocracy party, revealed as blatantly undemocratic when you plug your ears to their platitudes and simply look at their record and their current actions.

What a travesty that people like this aren't dragged off to court for treason, for their actions amount to nothing less.

The Prez
"The President of the United States has claimed, on more than one occasion, to be in dialogue with God. Now, if he said that he was talking to God through his hairdryer, this would precipitate a national emergency. I fail to see how the addition of a hairdryer makes the claim more ludicrous or more offensive."

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
