Blogger Bash, Pt. 2

Because of all the photos in the previous wrap-up of the New England Mini-Blog Bash, I held over some photos of the surroundings that caught my eye. It's a fine line to know how much to "dumb-down" a photo (ie, what size, how much to optimize it for the web with Photoshop) in order to hit a balance between loading reasonably quickly for folks with dial-up connections while still having a picture of decent size and detail.

Anyway, hit the "continue reading" link for a couple other snaps...

yacht.jpg

Chan's boat. Man, that's the life! He took some of the attendants on a tour after I left.

gas_station.jpg

The busiest gas station on the lake because of it's prices. Boats line-up in the water waiting their turn. Chan tells me they pump 30,000 gallons a week. Living on a large lake means you can go to restaurants and bars by boat. Even the local Burger-King has a boat-through...

ferry.jpg

That's the local "ferry", a powered raft that shuttles people from their anchored boats to the local harbor-club or elsewhere in this bay. I don't know why, but I'd feel better if there was some railing around that thing...

expensive_boat.jpg

That turbo-charged "cigarette boat" costs $700,000 dollars! I could retire on that and live splendidly!

Anyway, I guess that's enough bandwidth for now...

When I saw that cig boat, all I could think of was the Cindy Lu, from Lucifer's Hammer.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
