World War II Project is Up!

Finally, I have the first three pages of the "D-Day Today" project up. It should more rightly be called the WWII Today media treatment. Note that the first page contains responses to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and pages 2 and 3 deal with Normandy, etc.

Each article, column, or letter is its own entity and contribution so there are some inconsistencies from one to another. Please enjoy each one on its own.

I can, obviously, add more pages and I'm still looking for a "Dowd" and "Krugman" column, and anyone else you care to satirize. Also, I have some contributions now for the aftermath of WWII. With a little more, I can put up a full page. I can also put up pages covering other events in American Imperialism History...

Naturally I had to put up disclaimers and if there are any lawyers out there, please advise if I'm treading in dangerous waters. The paper will open in a new window (like everything here).

For those who have not followed this gig, I invited readers to submit examples of how todays media would have covered World War II. I should add that a couple of the letters are actual comments regarding 9/11 that I've --*ahem*-- converted to past history.

So this will be a continuing project and I welcome comments and contributions.

Jeff, this is like the brilliantest thing ever!

Wouldn't Chomsky use the term "zionist" instead of "jewish"?

Brilliant.

A much better headline from my point of view would be:
"Japan attacks Pearl Harbor - USA engaged in combat with China'

makes about much sense as attacking Iraq over 9/11 does. Doesn't anyone read or think in the USA?

Jeff, your new pages make it quite clear how much journalism has changed in the last sixty years. Well done!

More like, "Japanese Militants Explode Multiple Airplane Bombs at Pearl Harbor, Demand US Foreign-Born Fighters Out of Malaysia!"

Amusingly ExpatEgghead, the real history is more bizarre.

The first Americans to land anywhere after Pearl Harbor:
They landed in Morocco.
They landed under fire.
...by the French.

the comment input form disappears.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
