June 25, 2004Pink Pistols Not Invited...Or at least their concealed weapons and literature aren't invited to the Columbus, Ohio Gay Pride Parade. And the organizers are threatening to "confiscate" all concealed firearms... James R. Rummel at Hell in a Handbasket has the full story. It shows the typical intolerance of the leftist faction of gay organizations and it's one reason I've never participated in those parades. Read it! And my boyfriend wonders why I don't want to go to the Chicago parade this weekend... Posted by: Jason Hinds at June 25, 2004 11:37 AM"...and it's one reason I've never participated in those parades." Good for you, Jeff! It shows you have more PRIDE than those gun-fearing Politically Correct sheep ever dreamed of having. Posted by: Steven Malcolm Anderson at June 25, 2004 01:11 PMDang, almost sounds like the NC GOP's rejection letter for the Log Cabin Republicans booth at the state party convention! Posted by: Ace at June 25, 2004 03:28 PM"Should anyone bring a firearm this Stonewall Columbus event, the firearm will be Um sure Kate... go ahead and try to have some of your bully boys "confiscate" my carry piece. Situations like this are why I carry two fully loaded extra mags. In any case, if the weapon in question is Conceled, how in the hell are they going to be able to tell that I'm armed? Posted by: Mordwyn at June 25, 2004 03:41 PMIf you're participating in a march, on a public street, and have the required permit to carry concealed, what authority do the organizers have to take it away? (Of course, if it's concealed, they shouldn't know you have it.) And what in the Pink Pistols showed up carrying openly, which, IIRC, is legal in Ohio? I remember reading somewhere a PP member quoted as saying, "It's easir to come out to gun people about being gay than it is to come out to gay people about liking guns." Posted by: Heartless Libertarian at June 25, 2004 06:06 PMHL is right about that. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool heterosexual gun person, and I could give a hoot about anyone being gay. So far as how they'd know that permit holders were carrying, the best that I could figure is that they were planning on frisking every one of the Pink Pistols who showed up and stealing their guns. That would have made the fur fly, I can tell ya! James Posted by: James R. Rummel at June 28, 2004 01:06 AMOhio Pink Pistols Threatened, Ordered to Surrender Firearms at Rally "Initially three, then later, four members of the Central Ohio Pink Pistols, a group promoting the safe handling of firearms in the GLBT community, were threatened by the Executive Director of Stonewall Columbus, who wielded a 2-foot club, and up to 30 volunteer security personnel at the Stonewall Columbus Pride Event on Saturday, June 26. The Pink Pistols were repeatedly ordered to surrender their legally-owned and carried firearms by a steadily-growing army of guards. Knowing the law was on their side, the Pink Pistols refused to surrender their property or knuckle under to illegal threats of violence, search, and seizure by Stonewall Columbus personnel. Police were summoned at Pink Pistols request. No firearms were surrendered or confiscated, and no arrests were made, as no laws were broken." Entire story at: To the PP gang even though I do not share your views on sexual preference. I'm glad your are standing up and being counted as 2nd amendment supporter. Keep up the good work.
