Anger in N.J. -- Here, too...

Folks, except for a few scattered posts about the war in Iraq and other middle-east issues, I've basically stayed out of it. It's just not my "turf" and I wasn't going to comment on this grotesque incident either. But I gotta' tell ya'...

From the New York Times:

But one day after graphic photographs of the body of Paul M. Johnson Jr., beheaded by Islamic extremists, were beamed around the world, a new sign appeared in the yard next to the house of Mr. Johnson's sister in Little Egg Harbor Township.

"Last night my heart was filled with love and prayers, but today it is filled with hatred. Last night I was not a racist, but today I feel racism toward Islamic beliefs," the sign said. "Last night Islamics had a chance to speak up for Paul Johnson, but today it was too late," it also said. "Today Islamics better wake up and start thinking about tomorrow."

The sentiment reflected in the sign was not shared by everyone in the southern New Jersey community where Mr. Johnson had grown up, but it was shared by several people interviewed over the past few days.

Muslim officials around the state, and the world, were quick to condemn the killing and offer their sympathy to Mr. Johnson's family.

I put the sign's wording in bold. And I'm starting to share those sentiments. Up till now I've always blamed just the extremist, mutant followers of Islam. But you know what? No matter how hard I listen, I can't seem to hear the voices of the supposedly large body of "moderate" Muslems. Not on TV, not on radio, not in the newspapers or on the web... Where are they?

You know, as whacko as many on the extremist Christian right get, there are tons of moderate voices amongst them (hence the recent splits in many of the major denominations.) As hard-line as Sharon gets in Israel, many in the Israeli parliament -- and in the American Jewish community -- decry his actions and those of the military (which is the sign that Israel is the only democracy anywhere near the middle-east.)

But all I seem to hear from the Islamic community here and abroad (as well as the "left" in general) is support and "Praise Allah" for the mutants. I'm starting to think that they are the only kind of Muslem. The other day I actually caught myself wishing -- not that seriously, yet -- that we would just bomb the crap out of the whole region.

Now maybe moderate Muslems actually do exist -- since the mostly leftist media is so busy blaming the U.S. and Bush for everything, maybe they don't want to publish or interview these rare moderates.

Either way, rightly or wrongly, I'm starting to really not like Muslems in general. I would say that they are the only ones who can stop that trend in myself and others. I suggest they get to work and make their voices heard.

Islam is the Religion of Peace.

Believe that, or they'll cut your throat.

I went to college with a muslim student from Pakistan who seemed pretty fundamental. He didn't just not eat pork, he told us what horrible filthy animals pigs were. Of course, he didn't drink. But the most surprising thing I remember was the delight on his face when he heard that Indira Gandhi had been assassinated.

It really is a religion of death.

Thank you Paul, I keep trying to be better than some bigot but I just can't find something good to write about these people. If -- and that is a big IF -- these people are really representative of Islam, (and I've read nothing to the contrary in the press) than Islam is the most vicious, horrible, evil religion on this planet. The war-lords, the Al Queda, the tribes, the Palistinians, and all the "praise allah" crowds in the U.S. and Europe only serve to portray Islam as the most vicious, violent religion that ever existed. I'm sorry but I can't think of a single thing good to say about Muslems. They are exactly where the Christians were several hundred years ago.

There's a lot more that I could rant about but this really isn't that kind of blog...

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
