Bless Nancy Reagan

Watching all of the ceremonies, and now the firing of the 21-gun-salute and hearing taps played... I've already spoken my thoughts quite clearly about President Reagan a few posts down.

Let me just say something about the wonderful Nancy Reagan, his wife. She has protected and cared for the love of her life for over fifty years of marriage, but especially for the last ten years as Ronald succumbed to his terrible affliction. And then, on his death, she -- no doubt wanting only to be able to grieve alone for her (and our) loss -- had to somehow find the strength to stand tall, with dignity and poise, always under the glare of non-stop media, somehow to make it through what must surely have been the longest, saddest week of her life.

Almighty God, please give Nancy Reagan the peace-of-mind and comfort she needs at this moment. Please, now that Ronald Reagan has been buried, keep the relentless press, the endless lenses away from her so she can finally grieve by herself. Give her solace and let her know that we all love and admire her and only wish for her some sort of happiness, or at least release, in her remaining years.

Would everybody please just leave her alone now? God bless you Nancy Reagan. May He put his great and mighty arm around you and afford you some of the protection and comfort such as you had been providing for your husband for so long.

God bless Nancy Reagan. God bless all the Reagans. God bless America. And God bless Jeff Soyer and Alphecca. And God bless your cats, too.

God bless us, every one.

But seriously, well said Jeff. You made me get all emotional.

The family has gone through a terrible ordeal, much like many of us mere mortals have had to endure. Reagan has been virtually dead for years. The family could have chosen to do without all this hooplah. Nancy is a willing "victim" of this ridiculous canonization we've just witnessed. Much of this has been fostered by her "friends" in the Republican Party with hopes that some of the glory rubs off on W.
Believe me, I couldn't care less if the press ever mentions her name again.

Very nice. I hope that she gets a bit of peace too.

Nancys' Ronnie is finally at rest.
Now her will to go on,is put to the test.
The look on her face, through those last 5 days.
Will stay etched in our memories, in so many ways.
What was she thinking, when her eyes filled with tears?
Her long goodbye was over, after so many years.
She protected his dignity, and guarded his name.
Her life from now on, will never be the same.
What was she thinking, while the world shared her grief?
Even in her pain, there must have been relief.
Although he's gone now, finally at peace,
her undying love, will never cease.
What was she thinking, when they handed her the flag?
held close to her heart, as her control began to sag.
She touched the casket, where her Ronnie lay.
With family beside her, she finally turned and walked away.
For those who were watching, there was not a dry eye.
As planes flew in formation, across the sky.
After 5 days of watching the world say goodbye,
to a man known to many, as"JUST A NICE GUY"
Where is Nancy now, as she tries to go on?
Struggling with memories, now that Ronnie is gone.
Will she remain afloat, or is her boat slowly sinking?
Where is she now and, "WHAT IS SHE THINKING?"

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
