Kerry Will Accept His Nomination...

If nominated at the Democratic Convention in Boston in July, John Kerry will, besides pointing out that he served in Viet Nam, graciously accept his nomination. By Golly, is this guy too generous and good to us or what? From a Yahoo story posted one minute ago...:

Bowing to pressure, John Kerry decided Wednesday to accept the nomination at the Democratic presidential convention in July, scuttling a plan to delay the formality so he could narrow President Bush's public money advantage.

He turned quickly to his backup plan, issuing a statement with a blunt appeal for campaign donations that could go to national and state party organizations.

His (or the DNC's) plan to scuttle 200 years of history in order to secure, or spend, more money didn't sit well with almost anyone. Even David Broder and William Safire trashed the idea during last Sunday's Meet The Press. From a Washington Post story about it from a couple hours ago:

Several Kerry advisers had wanted him to forgo the nomination at the Democratic convention in late July and wait five weeks until Bush accepts the Republican nod. That would give both candidates the same time to spend $75 million in public money set aside for the general election.

But the plan leaked weeks before Kerry had intended, causing an uproar in his home town of Boston -- site of the July 26-29 convention -- and among Democrats who feared that voters would view the tactic as too political.

Kerry had planned to wait several weeks before deciding what to do, but word of his deliberations leaked last week, forcing his hand.

"We believe it is right to start the general election on the same day as our opponents, and we will continue to explore every way possible to level the playing field against the Republicans' five week advantage," Kerry said.

What a hypocrite. He only changed his mind after businesses in Boston, the Mayor, and the press trashed the idea. He, and his flunkies such as the DNC and Terry McAuliffe would have loved to "bend the laws" to spend more money. Remember: They set the date of the convention, as well as the primaries. Suddenly it works to their disadvantage and they want a "time-out" to re-write the rules.

I don't like Bush and the Republicans but I loathe Kerry and the Democrats. Once again, Kerry flip-flops over something as he holds his finger up to the wind...

I know how you feel. I like Bush as a person but some of the people around him are creepy...
But this thing with Kerry showed his true colors ...:Its all about money with him...and power...
Great Blog...

I love the way you write. The _style_! That opening paragraph was a gem.

I think I'm going to vote Libertarian this year. Bush forfeited my vote when he came out for the FMA, and there's no way I can vote for Kerry. I'm still at a loss as to how he got to be their front-runner. Dean and Lieberman were _much_ better. Even Al Sharpton was better!

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
