Here's Some Anti-Gun Bias For You...

WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee reports that charges in a defensive gun-use incident will not be filed. Naturally we (me and the choir) should consider that good news. But most blogs have a "niche" and here at Alphecca it's the bias that the liberal media displays when reporting on such items regarding the use of firearms. I want you to read the first two paragraphs, and the emphasis is mine:

No charges against the son of a homeowner who shot and killed a would-be burglar. Police and the Attorney General's office say Tuesday's shooting was justified. They won't say exactly why, and won't reveal the specifics of what happened. But they say something happened that gave the shooter a reason to pull the trigger.

There's a bullet hole in the back of a pickup truck. Police won't say if a bullet made that hole. But seconds after being shot, the driver of the truck crashed into a home across Richbriar and died. Memphis police are saying those men were burglars, stealing yard equipment from a home on Richbriar. The other man, David Gonzales of West Memphis, has been charged with burglary. The son of the homeowner saw what was going on, then confronted the men. Bill Gibbons, Dist. Atty. General said, "He had reason to believe that he was in imminent danger of being killed himself or being seriously injured." Gibbons would not reveal specifically what that reason was, whether a weapon was involved, or whether the homeowners were threatened. Prosecuting a homeowner defending his turf would likely be unpopular and difficult. And there are areas open to interpretation in Tennessee's Self Defense statute. It says in part: The person must have a reasonable belief that there is an imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury. Neighbors stood by the decision to shoot. Neighbor Larry Wilons said, "I think they were right in exactly what they did. If somebody broke into my house, I'd have done the same thing." The attorney general's office also told us the driver who was killed had a theft conviction in Shelby County and convictions for similar crimes in several other states.

Talk about "conspiracy" and bias! "There's a bullet hole in the back of a pickup truck. Police won't say if a bullet made that hole." Police aren't talking. "Prosecuting a homeowner defending his turf would likely be unpopular and difficult." Could the writer (George Metaxas) express any MORE skepticism over this? Could he possibly cast any additional doubt over the police reports? And then, he spends the rest of the article quoting the Tennessee Criminal Code on self defense, as if to say that this incident doesn't meet that test.

This is biased reporting of the worst kind. And folks, this is what we're up against. The liberal media refuses to acknowledge the Second Amendment, and they refuse to admit that someone, some victim could possibly have a reason to own a gun for self-defense and to use that firearm -- justifiably -- for that purpose.

I should have saved this article for next Monday's Weekly Report but I got so angry reading it that I had to put it out there for you all now. Now, I'll turn the forum over to you in the comments...

I'm sure you will anyway, but take this as a vote of approval if you repeated this post as the lead in to the weekly report.

Actually, I am heading back down to Tennessee next Friday and will be a southern blogger for a couple of weeks after that. When I get down, I'm going to do some background investigation on this clown.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
