California County Bans .50 Caliber Rifles

From NBC TV 11:

Contra Costa supervisors have given final approval to a ban on the sale of .50-caliber rifles in the county's unincorporated areas.

The ban was approved Tuesday and will apply to two gun dealers that don't currently sell the powerful weapon.

The supervisors say they hope cities will follow suit with similar ordinances.

Supervisors said a terrorist could use .50-caliber weapons to blow up oil refineries.

It's interesting that these same supervisors probably rale against Bush's policies because they think the U.S. isn't actually threatened by terrorists. But any old (false) excuse will do when it comes to finding a way to ban another type of firearm.

And does anyone think they'll stop there? The same lame argument could be used to ban almost any caliber weapon. Look for a ban on all guns that fire magnum ammo next. The slippery slope just keeps getting steeper and slimier.

"The ban was approved Tuesday and will apply to two gun dealers that don't currently sell the powerful weapon."

does anyone else find that hysterical?

almost as funny the tap dancind that Chuck Schumer, et. al. did when asked "How many of these plastic pistols that you're banning are there out there on the street?"

uh, make that, DANCING.

I can't even spell it let alone DO it.

Terrorists so regularly buy .50s from gun dealers, after all.

(I wonder what the County "supervisors" would say if someone told them you could still buy a .68 caliber rifle? Sure, it's a muzzle loader, but these guys obviously don't know anything about the subject...)

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
