As You Can Tell...

...If you're checking in here today, I'm experimenting with various layouts and style sheets... So if it looks weird, forgive me. The vast majority of people who spoke up (okay, so it was three people) would prefer black text on a white, or light background. I found a style sheet I like at Movable Style which seems to work fine, with some modifications, on IE but not on Netscape or Safari, where the sidebar creeps-up into the top photo. I've tried surrounding the rest of the blog index within a table and that helped (it fixed the IE problem) but hasn't fixed Netscape yet... *Sigh* A woman's work is never done.

Update: I can't make the Movable Style sheet work so I'm back to MT's Stormy. I like the gray background on my iMac but I realize that some folks see black and the contrast is difficult. I'll figure this all out someday but I'm sick of it today...

As of right now, in IE6, the sidebar pops up into the picture. It did this morning at home, too, circa 10:00.

Looks good to me sitting here on my work PC. I like the gray/black with white/grey text.

I'll post from the mac tonite

The light text on a black background looks great to me. It makes it very easy to read.

Looks fine in Opera 7.23 although I prefer dark text on light grounds (Michelle's black on dark grey being an exception!) You can download the free (ad supported) Opera at www.opera.com if you want to do your own checking.

The content of the posting is far more important, and yours is excellent. Thank you.

What I should do, if I knew what I was doing, is have one of those cookie-remembering switches where readers could select from several color options. I've always liked white on gray because I stare at a computer screen all day long and most of the programs are white background, which gets tiring after awhile. Alphecca always was white on gray... I don't know, one day I'll figure it all out.

I like this layout (as of 1540 EST on 15 April, 2004). Especially the addition of working permalinks.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note though that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" (even in your email address) are currently banned as well. So are strings such as "cialis" (a common spam) which rules out words such as "socialism". Try putting a hyphan in a word like that.
