In an astonishingly biased piece of “reporting” by CBS News we read the following lies:

Obama has been fighting the notion that he opposes gun rights, stressing on the stump that he backs Second Amendment protections. His campaign has released a radio ad featuring American Hunters and Shooters Association head Ray Schoenke telling hunters the Democratic nominee won’t come for their guns.

“The bottom line is this. If you’ve got a rifle, you’ve got a shotgun, you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it away,” Obama said earlier this month in Pennsylvania. “Alright? So they can keep on talking about it, but this is just not true.”

Oh, gee-wiz, he’s using the head of a fake, phony, fraudulent “gun rights” organization, the AHSA, to convince us that he’s pro-2A. The AHSA is a stealth firearm prohibition group funded by such anti-gun activists as John Rosenthal, of Massachusetts, who take out billboards urging more gun control.

Oh, and since Obama is on record as wanting to ban all semi-automatic firearms (which would include almost all of them) and has stated that he wants to bring back the “assault weapons ban” that prohibited scary looking rifles and large ammunition magazines, I guess he WOULD take away your hunting and sporting rifles. And since he did, in fact, say that he wanted to ban civilian handgun ownership, I guess he’d take THOSE away, too. CBS as much as admits that fact but buries it in the 13th paragraph:

The Democratic presidential nominee has voted to leave gun makers and dealers open to lawsuits, and as a state lawmaker he supported tighter restrictions on firearms and a ban on semiautomatic weapons.

Of course there are also, er, unbiased quotes from the likes of Democratic consultants:

According to Democratic political consultant Dave “Mudcat” Saunders, a former John Edwards advisor who is known for pushing Democrats to take rural voters’ concerns more seriously, it is McCain, not Obama, whom gun owners should fear. Saunders argues that while Obama has essentially vowed to leave the gun owners alone, McCain has stood by his position on gun shows.

“Essentially?” As in ban half the weapons in your gun cabinet? So we take Obama’s word but not McCain, who has stated (and has the voting record to prove it) that he is against an “assault weapons” ban?

Yes, McCain supports closing the “gun show loophole” requiring instant background checks using the NICS for unlicensed gun dealers at gun shows. If I knew that the definition of gun show really was a gun show and not a few friends at the range or in someone’s living room, I’d have little — not “no” — problem with it. In any event, that’s pretty small beer compared to the wholesale bans on whole classses of firearms that Obama is on record as supporting.

And they quote a Ron Paul supporter:

“On paper, Obama appears worse than McCain,” he said. But McCain is more dangerous, he argued, because he is more likely to successfully enact legislation that would result in fewer rights for gun owners. Obama, Fusaro believes, simply won’t make the issue a priority.

Frankly, Fusaro is full of shit. Period. McCain is not perfect (BTW, Palin appears to BE almost perfect, gun-wise) but is far more likely to reject legislative attempts by the likes of garbage such as Carol Mahoney and Dianne Feinstein and Teddy “the lifeguard” Kennedy than Obama would.

Remember, if Obama is President, he has the majority in both the Senate and House. The trifecta of liberal orthodoxy would be unstoppable and any gun control bill would be rubber-stamped.

We can’t retake Congress but we can at least provide a modest check on it by hoping that a Republican in the White House, granted — albeit — McCain, will veto some of the more restrictive, leftist wish-list legislation.

I am on record as not a John McCain fan. I disagree with lots of his opinions. He’s also a crappy campaigner, making such untimely remarks (regardless of veracity) as “the economy is fundamentally sound. . .” but he’s all we have in the fight against a TRUE gun-banner like Obama (and his running mate, Biden) and if we sit on the sidelines we’re going to be totally fucked. I mean that. Obama is for total gun control, no matter what liars of the media — totally in the tank for him — such as CBS may claim.

Obama claims he is for the Second Amendment and will not take our guns away. He is full of shit. He is a liar. He is our next President unless you get off your fat asses and make his true agenda known to everyone you meet at the gun store, range, park, supermarket, everywhere.

Once again we are faced with voting for the lessor of two evils. The media has decided to run for President but since they can’t all fit into the Oval Office, they are using Obama as their surrogate figurehead. McCain sucks, but he sucks much less than Obama. Unfortunately, he’s sinking in the polls and needs our help. I do what I can, here. You need to, too.

Look, I wish we had the choice of Paul or Fred Thompson but we don’t. For better or worse this is a two party system and if we do nothing, this January 20th our government will be a one party system. We lose big time.

Rats!
