Tanker Truck with 3,000 Gallons of Gas Stolen
This happened in a rural area of Maryland. Full details and description of truck are here. My sincere hope that this is not related to any possible terrorism activities.

The simpler answer is probably the correcter one, good old fashioned theft.
3,000 gallons even at half retail is, what, around 6 grand?
We have folks drilling gas tanks to steal the contents from vehicles parked at trailheads and along roads (as the owners hike and what-not) up here in Alaska right now.

Seems like Big Sis and that crowd have gotten into Jeff’s head a bit. Gimme a break; it’s 6 - 8 grand in gasoline, depending on your buyer(s), and maybe 10-20 grand for the truck off of Ebay (no, that last thing would be pretty bold and half-stupid).
So, what Mr. Carberry said. Quit listening to the idiots in the FedGov, Jeff. Come on! If Moslem terrorists had any brains at all, there’d be people dying every day.

Not all enemies of civilization are foreigners. People like Mel apparently were never punk teenagers who liked to burn stuff for fun. Mel can’t even imagine somebody able to drive a truck, wanting to steal a truck of gasoline for vandalism / church burning / government building burning / old folks home burning jollies. That much gasoline and you could burn a concrete overpass, or a bridge into DC.

I’m with Matt and Mel. Expect more of this as the price goes up. Maybe at one point reading the concerns in the papers a terrorist will think ‘Hey!’ and a light bulb will go on in his head. He will then kill himself, waste gallons of fuel and melt a road or something.

Oh, I burned my share of things for fun, like any kid, but I don’t think I would have wanted to mess with 3 thousand gallons of gasoline. I could have been some kids, but that doesn’t make them terrorists either.
Right now, though, the times are tough (and going to get tougher) and gas retails at $3.50/gallon. I’m pretty sure the thief is not going to blow it up.

It is “probably” not terroism-related, and nobody said terrorism was likely.
The first dozens of plane hijackings weren’t terrorism-related either.
