Buy a Gun Weekend in South Carolina
You’ve heard of “tax-free days” in various states, where for a limited time there would be no sales tax. It’s to encourage shopping. Or something. Lawmakers in South Carolina have come up with a weekend where firearms will be exempt from sales tax. From the Herald-Life:
Whether you’re shopping for a shotgun or an energy-efficient washing machine, S.C. lawmakers want to give you a tax break. This week, House lawmakers gave key approval to a bill that:
#8226; Exempts handguns, rifles and shotguns from state sales tax during the biggest shopping weekend of the year. “Second Amendment Weekend” is scheduled for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving 2009.
I’m sure we’ll hear the usual howls from the Brady Bunch and VPC.

Yes, I’m sure of that, too. And it will be echoed by all “right-thinking” media outlets - literally.
Yet Snowflakes in Hell and War on Guns report that these groups apparently have little to no support outside the Joyce Foundation.
