In today’s Philadelphia Daily News, another inane editorial:
llegal guns are not only a health issue, but an economic one, too. It not only affects individuals, but entire cities. That’s why more businesses must become involved in the fight. For a city to get a reputation across the country as “Killadelphia” is bad for business, and even worse for its citizens.
The coalition organizing the march included CeaseFirePA, Philadelphia Citizens for Children and Youth, Men United for a Better Philadelphia, Granny Peace Brigade, CeaseFire N.J, Vietnam veterans and Mennonites. They want the Legislature to pass a law that requires gun owners to report a lost or stolen handgun, and pass the one-gun-per- month plan. Sounds like a no-brainer, but both efforts have already failed at least once in Harrisburg. How many more broken bodies do we need to display to get the point across?
My suggestion is, instead, to pass laws requiring that criminals and gang bangers report any firearms they’ve stolen. Also, they should be limited to one shooting or killing-per-month.
I’m sure such legislation would be just as effective as going after law abiding firearms owners in reducing crime in Killadelphia.

Here’s another no-brainer: eliminate “catch-and-release” processing of violent criminals.

I think that all those who either steal a gun or use one in the commission of a crime should be required to turn themselves in. Now there is a law if, enforeced, that would result in 100% success rate in capturing criminals!
All kidding aside, I would challenge the law to report stolen firearms as unconstitutional since it would force people to incriminate themselves.

Am I reading this wrong? Do you guys think it’s a bad idea to tell the cops if my guns are stolen? No, I don’t think it ought to be a law, but if mine turned up missing I’d sure as heck file a report.

Drew458 — The problem comes when you are required to report the gun stolen within, say, 48 hrs. If you are on a 2 week vacation and the gun is stolen, used in a crime and recovered before you get back, then they will come after you. Jack.

Here’s a thought.
Eliminate bargaining lesser punishment when crime is committed utilizing any weapon.
And establish a 3-Strikes Law, if they don’t already have one.
Criminals can’t kill (you) if they stay locked up.

Drew, with my 03 FFL I am already required to report any lost or stolen firearms. Having said that, how is reporting stolen firearms going to effect crime? The only thing that will be improved is your chances of having the firearm returned if it is recovered.

Killadelphia! I think that’s clever. I laugh when i first read it. That “Killa” could be used with other crime cities. Here in INDY we have shootings almost every day, “Kilanapolis” would be good. If the name fits, wear it. Either lock up the mutants or execute them. But, the Demorats running for Pres, would rather push more gun control. It’s safer for them. Blame an object that a thug. I doubt the left in America can add up 2 plus 2 equal 4. Makes too much sense.
God help us all.

By putting a damper on straw purchases. The idea is to prevent those who procure guns for criminals from claiming the weapon was stolen at some time in the past–after the crime.
Of course, since the NRA is anti-police and doesn’t want to stop a gun sale–they’ll be against it.

Political Correctness forbids that the Newspaper of Record here in Filthy-delphia tell the truth - namely - that “The Black Community” won’t help the police stop our murder extravaganza - and seems utterly incapable of behaving in a civilized manner. But, since saying nothing is not an option, said newspaper blames this aberrant human behavior - first - on an inanimate assembly of metal and - second - those who dare to point out the arrant stupidity of blaming behavior on a hunk of steel. They won’t even admit their end-game, that what they want is for ALL of us to give up our right to self-defense; so that they won’t have to tell the truth about - and risk offending - an “oppressed minority”. Fuck ‘em. I used to just laugh this stuff off, but too many people actually believe this shit. Reason and facts just don’t matter to these people. I don’t think our side is going to win this argument. We’re going to be forced to defend our rights against a violent assault by people like those who make up the editorial board of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Mark my words: the second civil war is coming. And this one will be between the Red & the Blue…but Blue’s gonna lose this one. Texas, here I come.

I don’t have a problem, reporting a stolen firearm, once I know it’s stolen.
There does need to be some common sense, & not punish the victim.
Right now we have a Federal law against stealing a firearm from an FFL, why not make any firearms theft a federal crime.
Of course one gun a month is a problem, not sure I can afford to buy a gun every month
