A swarm of two showed up to protest guns and gun stores near Seattle yesterday. From the Seattle PI:
P-I reporter Amy Rolph went out to cover a planned protest Tuesday night at Green Lake, only to find just two demonstrators. Here’s Amy’s report:
The demonstration didn’t take long at all. In fact, it might have been the shortest in recent local history.
It might have been the smallest, too.
Two activists showed up. They stretched out on the ground for 32 seconds. Then they rolled up their banner — www.protesteasyguns.com — and headed for the parking lot.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported “dozens” at a rally there though organizers claimed that 200 showed up.
The Washington Post reports “dozens” as well at a protest outside Realco Guns near Washington DC.
The Lower Hudson Online (NY) says about 40 showed up in a Yonkers, NY protest.
One of the larger rallies, in Maryland, drew a hundred according to the AP which also was the only story I’ve found — so far — to mention that there were counter-protesters. Well, actually, they didn’t mention it in the text but there’s a photo of them to the left.
Considering all the advanced publicity that the liberal media provided free of charge to Jesse Jackson, the Brady Bunch, and other organizers of these scattered events, yesterday must have been a bummer to them. Think about this: Washington DC and Philadelphia are both being wracked by out-of-control gangs mowing each other down and yet only dozens showed up to protest at those local events.
Why? Probably because most intelligent folks know it isn’t the gun store or the guns, it’s the mutants that criminally use the firearms.
Here’s a suggestion: How about holding protests outside the court houses where judges mete-out little or no jail time to all the thugs illegally using firearms in the commission of crimes?

Wonder how many of us bought ammo yesterday? Jack.

Jackson’s own protest had three busses of his usual cohorts while PGP reported that the DC one were all the “professional protestors” they usually bring in.

Bought 10 12 gauge slug shells and a 20 box of .308. My gun store was aware of the ammo buy after a fashion, and was very aware that a separate gun store in MD was going to be protested by Rainbow coalition. News reports say MAYBE 100 went to protest. That was the store, Realco, near the DC line the news reports talk about, but there was no one at mine.

Funny thing is, there were no overt protests that I heard of in the Detroit region.
Surely they could have spawned a group of 20 or so from somewhere in D-Town.

Bought 7 boxes from Cheaper Than Dirt in Ft. Worth. Lots of folks listed their purchases on the war on guns.
This is a good site foe common sense.

“Washington DC and Philadelphia are both being wracked by out-of-control gangs mowing each other down and yet only dozens showed up to protest at those local events.”
..probably too scared to be seen in public for FAQ of being winged by a stray round from the ‘hood. I read somewhere that this was a protest “against illegal guns”; if so, why are the few that did show up out in front of gun stores where they sell legal firearms?
Didn’t buy any ammo. I am looking however, for non-steel .30-06 for my M-1s. Seems a severe drought out here in SoCal caused the powers-that-be to ban that stuff ~~ sparks from ricochets, don’t you know. So my 2,000 rounds of Lake City M-2 ball is useless (unless we have another riot). Anyone know of some cheap sources of non-magnetic .30-06 ammo?

“So my 2,000 rounds of Lake City M-2 ball is useless (unless we have another riot)”
??? ‘06 ball has a lead interior. It’s the AP, black nose, that has steel. (And AP Incendiary, but if fire is a concern I suppose they’d so persnickety as to ban that, too).

Did not buy any ammo however I did pack my Colt Mustang .380 (like I do every day) in protest to the anti gun
protest. If anyone has the time tonight watch Glenn Beck on Headline News to see his solution to the crime problem in New Orleans…..more guns. His other solution is an exchange progam. A resident of the big easy for any clean background/permitted gun owner.

I ordered another case of Federal Champion Target, even though I already had one case in the closet. That 510 stuff works real well in my 22 revolvers and my Bernadelli Model 69 too.

I hope that everyone is not buying any ammo made in china! Keep up the good work.

As mentioned earlier, Jesse Jackson protested a suburban gun company that does not sell to the public.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-gunprotest_webaug29,1,2929934.story
As the article says, he bused in about 200 protesters. There were “more than a dozen’ counter-protesters.
Good move: ‘Three large posters of the front cover of author Ken Timmerman’s book, “Shakedown: Exposing the Real Jesse Jackson” hung on the outside of the building.’

Hit the range at Clark Brothers in Virginia with two folks who have never shot handguns before. My 19 year old son Brian gave them a very professional introduction to the art and sport of handgunnery.
After shooting five different pistols from my mousegun collection, they were unanimous on the Beretta Tomcat (Inox) as their favorite gun and the one they would be most likely to carry. I honestly think one of these folks is considering getting her permit.
The Tomcat was my pocket gun for over two years, but has been shifted to car duty since I acquired a Beretta 418. The little 418 is a lot easier to pocket for an old fat guy, and shoots like a dream since I replaced the firing pin spring. It’s my only mousegun that Brian doesn’t look down his nose at, mainly because it was James Bond’s gun in “Casino Royale.” Yes, this is the gun Bond was forced to trade for a Walther in “Dr. No” because his Beretta jammed…that’s how you know that James Bond is fiction.

I did my part by buying some Hornaday V-Max .223 at a little gun store in Whittier, NC. The owner hadn’t even heard of the supposed protests but I sincerely doubt you would have seen it there.

I live it what most would consider a ‘nice’ neighborhood.
A little over a month ago, I noticed a county sherriff ‘copter circling over head, and my wife noticed police cars in front of a neighbors house (recently moved in renters). Long story short, they found and comfiscated drugs (including crystal meth), illegal guns (no, I don’t know what made them illegal), stolen goods (including a car), and other “contraband”. The household was hauled off in handcuffs. The neighborhood is saying “GREAT, it’s about TIME” (there had been numerous complaints previous to this).
The next day ever single one of them were back ‘home’, while the neighbors continue to take notes, write down license numbers, install alarm systems, and make sure ‘911′ is on speed-dial.
The problem’s not ‘guns’, it’s that everyone was out on bail and back to ‘business as usual’ in less than 24 hours.

And then a case of 45 cal for my Sig Sauer P220.

250 rounds of Black Hills .223. All they had in .223
Darned if I could find any decent .38 Spl ammo (Powerball) for 340PD.

I have so much ammo on hand I can’t keep track of all these protests to counter them.
Stupid Socialist Nutjobs, Inc, otherwise known as Moveon.org, was agitating for an “Anti-war” protest in Indy a couple of weeks back. The email actually asked for “6-10 people.”
In a city of a million.
The day after a bad storm hit up north.
The day GenCon started.
No reports of any protest happening, but if there was, it was small.
Had I the time, I would have shown up in my INFIDEL T shirt carrying a sign that read, “Support the troops, punch a hippie.”

Oh–yes, can’t go and buy more ammo because I have a lot of ammo, and not enough $$.
Come on, I buy it by the CRATE for my Browning. Which, I admit, when I have the $$, would be a great thing to do at one of these protests.
“I’m an immigrant and career military veteran, here to buy another crate of ammo for my machinegun so I can shoot invaders or traitors as needed.”
No threat implied. I can’t help what they infer.

I didn’t see any need to waste my time on a silly little protest. I sent another check to the DNC and eagerly await 1-21-09, when the new Democratic President and Congress pass gun confiscation laws and declares the NRA to be a terrorist organization.

Hehe. Gotta love them all-talk-no-action protests. Maybe the people aren’t buying the lies? We can only hope.
Great blog, by the way. =)

Greetings,
I have been a hunter for all of my adult life and have had a conceal carry for about two decades now. I am getting ready to retire to a part time job. I don’t want to go crazy by stopping work completely. Anyway, I think a security job would be good. i have worked security in the past for extra money.
There is a company that sells police equipment, meaning holsters, belts, etc. to the public. Does anyone know the name of such a business or the web address. I used to read a magazine from one, but that was years ago. I have a taurus .45 caliber hand gun and need a holster for it, along with an ammo pouch. I Previously had a ruger .357 and the holster does not interchange with the ruger.
Hope this inquiry is within the posting rules. If not I do apologize.
My email is rwavle@aol.com. I give out this address becauseI trust the people on this blog. Fellow gunners are good people.
Thank you for your time in reading this inquiry.
