Burlington has passed three resolutions that if passed by the state Legislature would put restrictions on guns in the Queen City.

The ballot items would allow police to seize weapons from suspects of domestic violence, ban firearms from any city establishment with a liquor license and require gun owners to safely store all guns.

Ballot item No. 6 (domestic violence and guns) passed 5579-2066.
Ballot item No. 7 (ban at liquor establishments) passed 5194-2517.
Ballot item No. 8 (safe storage of firearms) passed 4351-2971.

Vermont has a state preemption law regarding firearms regulations, so Burlington would need to obtain permission from the state legislature (requiring a full vote there) to enforce these ordinances.
