While last year’s Democratic package of gun control proposals changed the tenor and tone of the entire legislative session, one bill in particular –the ban on magazines of more than 15 rounds — did more to galvanize gun owners and erode civility and bipartisanship beneath the dome than the others.
[ . . . ]
…the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Chris Holbert, R-Parker, told FOX31 Denver Sunday that at least half of the lawmakers at the Capitol, including a handful of Democrats, support his repeal try.
“I’m confident we have 50 lawmakers who’d vote yes,” Holbert said, noting that his bill has 45 co-sponsors, including Sen. Lois Tochtrop, D-Thornton.
With the recall elections trimming the Democrats’ senate majority to a razor-thin 18-17 margin, and two of those Democrats having voted against the magazine ban last year, Holbert knows his bill could pass the full Senate — if it can escape the House.
