Sen. Gayle Goldin is the bill’s sponsor in the Senate. The Providence Democrat said Rhode Island’s capital city had more than 100 shootings last year.
Supposedly the money would go to anti-gun violence groups. In reality, it’s a pretty good bet that most of those 100 shootings weren’t with legally purchased firearms, so once again it is just the law abiding citizens that will be punished.
