Gun Control Rally in DC Draws Few
What if they held a protest and nobody showed up? That’s almost what happened in the District of Columbia (population 550,000) where an anti-gun rally was sparsely attended:
Dozens of people turned out Friday for a rally in support of D.C.’s ban on handguns.
The event at the Wilson Building was sponsored by the advocacy group Peaceoholics to draw attention to a recent U.S. Court of Appeals ruling easing the ban. Mayor Adrian Fenty and Council members Marion Barry Phil Mendelson and Kwame Brown attended. Crime victims and others whose friends and families have been affected by gun violence also spoke.
Dozens! And half of them city council members. . . But wait a minute! I thought Marion Barry wanted the handgun ban dropped?

Wow…dozens
I think that should be enough to prove that the ‘grass-roots’ wants all firearms banned and we should accept that dhimmi status for us is a good thing
Roll over, America! It works for Europe!

Marion Barry! What a laugh, this guy doesn’t know what day it is let alone what side of any issue he is on. Crackhead.

There is little to no actual grass-roots support for gun control. Yes, there’s a disturbingly high number of misinformed individuals who favor G.C., but they’re not organized, in spite of the names of the organizations. “Americans for Gun Safety”, “The Brady Campaign”, “Ohioans Against Gun Violence”, are all hollow shells, financed by the Joyce Foundation, George Soros, etc. with very few actual Members.
Yet the NRA alone has 4 million or more Members. When I attended the 2004 Convention, I wangled an interview with a reporter from the LA Times. One point I made with him was that nearly every one of the attendees was there on his or her own nickel, all 55,000 of us. In spite of the media’s attempts to paint the NRA as a huge, all-powerful monolith, it’s really an organization made up of many individuals.

It’s a wonder that the media didn’t say “Scores of people attended…” I’ll bet they left the wide-angle lens home that day too.

Marion Barry? Oh man, that’s just too much. Wonder if he was quoted as saying “That G-d bitch. Settin’ me up.” I feel like Beetlejuice every time I see the video of his arrest. “I’ve seen the video about 167 times and it keeps getting funnier every time I see it!”

Just remember, Barry wants to open up registration of handguns again for a limited time, along with amnesty, since it’s illegal to have a handgun in DC that wasn’t registered before 1976. Then, once you tell them where your gun is, they’d close the window again, and it would still be illegal to actually use your handgun under any circumstances. But they’d know that you have it, and even in which room you keep it. If they were to come looking for it, and it wasn’t there, you could be arrested for keeping it some place other than where you had it registered.
Actually, the DC handgun law is a masterpiece in screwing over the gun owner. They’ve got you covered six ways from Sunday.

Marion Barry showed up because he heard there was a protest scheduled to make things like Heckler and Koch illegal. He thought they said the protest was to make heckling a coker illegal and he was all for that.
