The Cards and the Red Sox meet for game one, in just a couple hours. Yeah, yeah; you don’t care; your team isn’t in it; you hate baseball; etc.
Firstly: Baseball is fun to watch because it’s relaxing; you can do other stuff while you still follow the game. And, baseball is as American as it gets.
Secondly: For a change, the best two teams in the league have made it to the World Series. You’re not watching a great team and a not-so-great team. This time, the cream, the best of both the National League and the American league are facing off. They are pretty evenly matched and that will make for great games. I doubt (and I hope) that neither dominates or runs-off with it.
Thirdly: I’m (of course!) rooting for the Red Sox, but I don’t want to jinx them, so . . . I’ll blandly say something trite, such as, uh, “May the best team win.” Yeah, okay. Just so long as it’s the Boston Beards.
Go Red Soxs!
