The Duke University basketball team came within one game of making the Final Four last year. This year, I suspect that they’ll go all the way:
I’m just kidding. They visited West Point (more pictures here) and tried out the gun simulator.
Back in, I guess it was the mid-1990’s, I took the Vermont Civilian Police Course and enjoyed their FATS (Fire Arms Training Simulator) simulator, where you have a LASER firearm and have to make rapid life-and-death decisions when confronted by, say, a suspect reaching behind him and pulling out — what?! — a wallet or a gun.
Anyway, I’m sure the players had a good time and having visited West Point myself, way, way back when I was a Boy Scout, I can tell you that it is a beautiful campus.
As long as I’m blathering about sports . . . A good day, Sunday, in Beantown as both the Patriots and the Red Sox had dramatic come-from-behind victories in the final moments of their respective games.
Say what you will about Massachusetts (especially regarding gun rights), but when it comes to sports, Boston is one of the great sports towns in the country. I spent way too many hours watching TV yesterday, and trust me when I say that doing so by streaming it on a tiny laptop via the internet is painful. Fortunately, the outcomes made it less so.
