Right now, Vermont state law trumps local law regarding gun laws. While some in Burlington might like to change that, it would be a long, tough slog to do so. After all, why should a Vermont resident suddenly become a criminal just because he drove through the City of Burlington?
But, that’s not stopping the city council from drawing up their own, stricter gun control ordinance. From VTDigger:
The measures would ban assault weapons, restrict those with domestic violence convictions from obtaining a firearm, require a permitting process for concealed weapons, ban firearms from establishments that serve alcohol, and require that firearms be kept “under lock and key,” separate from another locked location where ammunition is kept.
Yeah, good luck, paisano.
