Why do I keep posting about stories like this? Because, as I said yesterday, a personal defense firearm is like a fire extinguisher; you hope you never need it, but if you do — thank God it’s there. From NBC 15, Madison, WI:
Madison Police say a pair of suspected thieves ran away early Tuesday morning after being confronted by a homeowner with a handgun.
The homeowner grabbed his gun around 2:30 a.m. and went outside to his driveway, where the thieves were in the midst of stealing items from his family’s van.
Everyone (well, most everyone who regularly reads this blog) has their own favorite opinion about the perfect, at-the-ready, home-protection firearm. Me? I keep a loaded Mossberg 12-guage shotgun by the bed stand. It’s big, black, has a large-diameter barrel, and makes an awesome sound when you ‘rack-it’ to chamber it. Truth-in-blogging: I’ve (fortunately) never had to put it to the test.
