I just spent the weekend visiting with family down in MA and now I’m back in Vermont. Hopefully your Labor Day weekend is going as pleasantly.
You know, I’ve always thought that a fitting tribute to workers would be a music video featuring the song Fanfare for the Common Man (the ELP rendition of Aaron Copeland’s great work) with simple images being superimposed upon each other every few seconds. The photos would be of all those who earn a living: Teachers, firefighters, farmers, loggers, construction workers, police, soldiers, miners, commercial fishermen, cooks, and so on.
Anyway, many of you probably still have to work today but hopefully you’ll receive some sort of extra compensation, even if it’s just a smile or thank you from a customer or your boss.
Happy Labor Day to all the “Makers,” as differentiated from all the “Takers” who depend upon us.
