Never mind “assault rifles,” what should we do about hammers and clubs? From Fox News:

According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.

However, banning hammers and clubs (who has a club laying around?) would probably strengthen the case for banning handguns, which are used in thousands of murders. That would, of course, ignore the fact that handguns are also used to prevent (mostly without being fired) hundreds-of-thousands (and maybe up to two million) instances of murders or violent assaults.
